Maintenance Mechanic Pay: $38+ Shift: 6 am -2:30pm // 2pm -10:30pm Location: Oakdale Job Description The General Maintenance Mechanic improves the reliability and performance of plant equipment by performing preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and repairing or rebuilding industrial machinery. This role focuses on maintaining safe, efficient, and continuous production operations while upholding food safety and quality standards. Responsibilities + Demonstrate safe work practices at all times and support a zero-injury culture by keeping work areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe. + Follow and comply with all Safe Quality Food (SQF), HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements. + Support and actively participate in the performance system initiatives, including the Preventive Maintenance (PM) pillar. + Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform routine adjustments and repairs on industrial equipment and machinery to maintain production and maintenance schedules. + Monitor completed repairs to verify that issues are fully resolved and take ownership of problems until they are corrected, with a focus on doing the job right the first time. + Perform assigned preventive and predictive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, inspecting, and lubricating equipment to keep machinery in proper working order. + Provide feedback to improve and optimize preventive maintenance procedures and schedules. + Perform and validate equipment changeovers as needed to support production requirements. + Dismantle, evaluate, repair, and rebuild equipment and machinery as required, ensuring high-quality workmanship and accountability for results. + Assist with maintenance planning by identifying required parts and work, and by entering accurate notifications and details into SAP, including parts and material information when possible. + Prioritize maintenance tasks based on business needs and respond with a high sense of urgency to assigned work. + Participate in breakdown elimination activities to reduce equipment failures and improve overall equipment reliability. + Maintain and improve 5S standards in maintenance and production areas to support an organized and efficient work environment. + Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on industrial food manufacturing equipment such as boilers, sorters, sizers, sensors, evaporators, and packaging equipment. + Perform welding and fabrication on equipment as needed to support repairs and improvements. + Carry out preventive maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. + Work collaboratively with production and maintenance team members to support continuous, reliable plant operations. Essential Skills + At least two years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial or manufacturing environment. + Strong mechanical aptitude, demonstrated through effective troubleshooting and repair of industrial equipment and machinery. + Hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair of industrial food manufacturing equipment, including boilers, sorters, sizers, sensors, evaporators, and packaging equipment. + Ability to perform preventive and predictive maintenance, including cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of machinery. + Welding and fabrication skills for equipment repair and modification. + Knowledge and practical experience with hydraulics and pneumatics. + Basic electrical skills and ability to perform electrical troubleshooting. + Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting at a basic level to support equipment diagnostics. + Demonstrable knowledge and experience using SAP for maintenance tasks such as entering notifications and identifying parts and work requirements. + Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing. + Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment. + Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work based on operational needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in a food manufacturing or processing environment with exposure to SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards. + Familiarity with performance systems and continuous improvement methodologies, particularly in preventive maintenance. + Experience participating in breakdown elimination or reliability improvement initiatives. + Experience working within 5S or similar workplace organization programs. + Comfort working across multiple types of equipment and adapting to changing production priorities. Work Environment This role is based in an industrial food manufacturing facility with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to SQF, HACCP, and GMP standards. You will work around a variety of production and packaging equipment such as boilers, sorters, sizers, sensors, evaporators, and packaging machinery, using tools and technologies that include hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and fabrication equipment, basic electrical tools, PLC troubleshooting tools, and SAP for maintenance planning and documentation. The position requires flexibility to work on rotating or extended schedules aligned with seasonal production demands. During the in-season period (June through October), shifts run Monday through Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During the off-season period (November through May), shifts run Monday through Saturday with schedules of 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with expectations to maintain high 5S standards and support a safe, orderly, and efficient workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakdale, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.94 - $38.94/hr.
