Discover Impactful Work: The Associate Director Product Owner provides leadership and management for staff and/or managers within the department to drive software platforms to meet company needs. Accountable for the performance and development of staff, departmental programming, and customer service. Collaborates across departments to understand needs of the business as well as externally to assure business solutions differentiate PPD's service offerings. Contributes to and/or leads governance process(es) to assure that limited resources are used to deliver the most value. We have successfully supported the top 50 pharmaceutical companies and more than 750 biotechs, spanning 2,700 clinical trials across 100+ countries in the last 5 years. A day in the Life: u2022 Be a leader of leaders, focusing on the strategies and tactics required to deliver the needs of the business. u2022 Influence business partners (internal and external) by listening to their needs, developing solutions within the departmentu2019s scope, and making a compelling case for change. u2022 Interpret, approve, and administer policies, processes, and procedures that affect the department. u2022 Be accountable for developing and maintaining the departmental vision and supporting strategies, including integrating new technologies and industry trends. u2022 Lead and oversee initiatives to develop, optimize, improve, and assess system software enhancements. u2022 Lead and oversee the creation of software product roadmaps. u2022 Oversee ongoing support of standards implementation, including training and continual process evaluation (e.g., metrics, CAPAs, trend analyses). u2022 Approve training materials and define training needs as required. u2022 Act as an Authorizing Manager for CAPAs when applicable. u2022 Respond to client or internal audits on systems or procedures. u2022 Manage the creation, submission, and presentation of yearly budget requests. u2022 Sponsor process improvement initiatives, provide updates to executive management, and secure resources for project progression. Education and Experience: u2022 Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification u2022 Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10+ years). u2022 5+ years of management responsibility In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: u2022 Proven leadership skills including ability to lead a departmental unit as well as develop/mentor management and senior staff u2022 Skilled in process development and improvement, especially as it applies to clinical trials and clinical development u2022 Comprehensive understanding of processes and systems of the department u2022 Ability to develop strategies that underpin the department vision, leading to incremental continuous improvements that generate value on behalf of the client u2022 Strong attention to detail, investigative and analytical skills u2022 Strong interpersonal, negotiation and problem solving skills u2022 Ability to influence stakeholders to achieve business goals u2022 Strong computer skills, to include an effective understanding of clinical management technology and systems u2022 Broad understanding of the practices, processes and requirements of clinical trials, to include regulatory guidelines and directives u2022 Effective oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing u2022 Capable of directing and promoting teamwork in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-cultural team setting u2022 Demonstrated project management skills u2022 Strong critical thinking skills to drive innovation and develop new ideas related to product development Working Environment: Thermo Fisher Scientific values the health and wellbeing of our employees.
