Detroit Salt is a historic organization with a rich legacy spanning over 100 years, originating in 1906 as a salt producer for leather and food processing. As a member of the team at Detroit Salt, you will contribute to maintaining our company's efficient mining process and enriching our workforce.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESu2022 High degree of collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to effectively serve our customers, stakeholders, community and the overall corporationu2022 Ensure assigned work is safely and effectively executed within the production scheduleu2022 Safely and effectively operate forklift and front-end loader and correctly complete pre op check list on equipment to be usedu2022 Work safely and responsibly and follow all safety policies and proceduresu2022 Assist in Rail load out and adjusts the belt line according to established training and proceduresu2022 Perform Rail car inspections when cars arrive onsiteu2022 Operate shuttle wagon proficiently during loadout and move cars to all tracks in accordance to the shift loadout planu2022 Communicates all concerns affecting safety, quality, productivity and the workplaceu2022 Must be able to assist in the completion of weekly PM's on hoists/shaftsu2022 Operate Loader and be able to move product in covered storage during hoisting operationsu2022 Operate forklifts safely during shift, as requiredu2022 Perform daily start-up of belt lines and 190 stacking conveyors correctly and in the right sequenceu2022 Perform daily equipment checks and assist in minor service maintenanceu2022 Assist in completing weekly PM's associated with the shafts and hoistsu2022 Correctly lower materials inside skip safely and correctly during material loweringu2022 Must be able to safely replace troughing idlers and return rollers as neededu2022 Operate re-crush system and know proper procedure for start upu2022 Focus on achieving the daily and weekly work plan and contribute to the overall continuous improvement and efficiency of the packaging line and product shippingu2022 Performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSu2022 High school diploma or equivalent requiredu2022 Must be able to read, write, and provide reporting in Englishu2022 Must be able to maintain and provide minor service adjustments to machineryu2022 Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures in production/warehouse workplace and outside year roundu2022 Must be able to work independently and in a team environmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTu2022 Must be able to climb ladders, steps, crawl, and bend regularlyu2022 Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularlyu2022 Must be able to wear all PPEAt Detroit Salt Company, we work best when we work as a team, when we treat one another with dignity and respect, and value the unique contributions of others.
