Currahee Club, located in Toccoa, GA, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a full-time, Assistant Mechanic We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supervise and participate in all equipment maintenance to include mower grinding and sharpening, backlapping and setting heights of cut, daily equipment and height of cut inspections, fabrication and welding, engine and transmission work, and vendor and manufacturer correspondence including parts ordering and troubleshootingManage all shop operations in the Equipment Manageru0027s absenceOverhaul and repair maintenance vehicles, mower equipment and other power equipmentInspect equipment for operating deficiencies and make routine adjustments where necessaryRespond to equipment failures in the fieldMaintain knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems and mowing equipment maintenance such as grinding, sharpening and adjustmentReceive, unload, and pick up material deliveries at shop and other shipping and receiving areasAssist in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staffMonitor and maintain grass dump and wash bay areaParticipate in effective equipment orientation and training with staff members; assist in developing ongoing training programsMaintain appropriate recordsEnsure proper calibration of all spraying and fertilizer equipmentMaintain equipment service and storage areas in clean working orderMonitor fuel storage facilities, track staff fuel usage, and ensure proper mixing and handling procedures are followedAssist the team with wintertime snow removal and plowing as neededMay be relied upon for overtimeOversee and participate in the maintenance of other departmentu0027s vehicles and equipmentIncorporate safe work practices in job performanceRegular and reliable attendanceMaintain a professional standard at Juniper Preserve including but not limited to appearance, interaction with members, associates, and guests of the resort, verbal discussions and written correspondence; do not discuss work-related issues with members and resort guestsMaintain a positive attitude and the flexibility to take on new and different tasks as assigned by the Director of Agronomy and Equipment ManagerQualifications:Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline and diesel enginesKnowledge of the proper methods for servicing equipment, sharpening reels and adjustment of all mowing equipmentAbility to use common mechanical tools and understand and follow written and oral instructionsA minimum of three years of experience as a golf course equipment technician or experience in a related fieldAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general publicAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percentAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervise appropriate groundskeepers and foreman with daily job dutiesPosition may also be called upon to supervise additional staff seasonallyCertificates/Licenses:Valid Driveru0027s LicenseMechanics Certificate from Gas and Diesel Engine Training Seminar or equivalent work experienceWorking Conditions:Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); with toxic or caustic materials; in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); may experience vibrationRegularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne particlesFrequently works in areas near moving mechanical parts where noise level is loudPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hearThe employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlRegularly lifts 25-50 pounds and occasionally may lift up to 100 poundsSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus About TroonFounded in 1990 and headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, Troon is the world's largest professional club management company, that specializes in services in golf, hospitality, and residential communities.
