D365 Business Central Consultant

Description We are looking for an experienced D365 Business Central Consultant to support a client in Texas as they strengthen and improve their ERP environment. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for a senior techno-functional specialist who can combine accounting process knowledge with strong system troubleshooting and configuration skills. The role will focus on improving reliability, restoring confidence in financial data, and helping end users achieve lasting success with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Responsibilities: u2022 Evaluate the current Dynamics 365 Business Central setup to uncover configuration gaps, transaction posting problems, workflow breakdowns, and data accuracy concerns. u2022 Refine foundational system settings such as finance configurations, posting structures, numbering logic, dimensions, and approval flows to support stable day-to-day operations. u2022 Resolve historical transaction issues and work through outstanding posting activity to help maintain accurate and auditable financial records. u2022 Collaborate with accounting and operational stakeholders to understand process challenges and provide practical support across accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and inventory costing. u2022 Redesign and validate financial and operational reports using Business Central tools, Excel, and Power BI so leadership can rely on timely and accurate insights. u2022 Investigate integration issues, extension behavior, and environment-level setup concerns, making targeted adjustments or light customizations where needed. u2022 Deliver training for internal technical staff and business users on system administration, troubleshooting, transaction workflows, and effective daily usage. u2022 Create clear documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides that promote consistent processes and long-term adoption of the platform. u2022 Partner with business leadership to align Business Central capabilities with operational priorities and financial reporting objectives. Requirements u2022 At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in both functional and technical capacities. u2022 Strong knowledge of accounting and finance operations within Business Central, including general ledger, AP, AR, bank reconciliation, inventory costing, and posting controls. u2022 Demonstrated success improving or recovering underperforming Business Central environments following incomplete or ineffective implementations. u2022 Ability to identify and resolve posting failures, setup inconsistencies, workflow defects, and data integrity issues with a structured approach. u2022 Experience building or refining reporting solutions through Account Schedules, Excel, Power BI, or comparable analytics tools. u2022 Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with non-technical accounting and operations teams. u2022 Prior experience training internal IT personnel and end users on system processes, support practices, and platform best practices. u2022 Familiarity with ERP ecosystems and related business applications such as NetSuite, Epicor, change management practices, or business requirements documentation is a plus.
