Hands-On Facilities Manager

Title: Hands-On Facilities ManagerCompensation Range: Starting at $105,000 per year Schedule: Full-time, typically Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Location: Thousand Oaks, CA We are seeking a skilled and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, and long-term care of our commercial properties. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership and management capabilities, overseeing a team of building engineers. You will ensure all building systems operate safely and efficiently, providing tenants and visitors with a well-maintained and comfortable environment.What Youll Do:Lead and develop a team of 6 maintenance technicians across a portfolio of 10 buildings, setting priorities, assigning work, and driving high performance. Oversee daily building operations, including preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, and emergency response, with a hands-on approach as needed. Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring quality work, timely completion, and alignment with budget expectations. Implement and optimize maintenance processes, SOPs, and scheduling to improve efficiency and ensure compliance. Support budgeting and capital projects, including forecasting needs, managing CAPEX initiatives, and tracking performance metrics. Partner with tenants and property management on communication, operations, and construction projects to deliver a high level of service. Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability. Position Breakdown / Travel Requirements70% field presence (inspections, supervision, mentoring, vendor management) 20% hands-on technical work and repairs 10% administrative responsibilities, including office support and meetings.What Youll Need to Succeed:5-10 years of progressive experience in facility operations and maintenance, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or chief engineer role.Strong working knowledge in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems.Experience managing in-house engineering teams and external service providers.Knowledge of budgeting, capital planning, and project management.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management systems (e.g., CMMS, Yardi, Prism).Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
