Barrios prides itself on a people-focused culture that values creativity, diversity, professional growth, and a healthy work-life balance.We are seeking Software Engineers with a focus on Embedded Software, specifically Device I/O, to support the development and operations of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), the next-generation lunar surface mobility system that will enable Artemis astronauts and commercial partners to explore the lunar surface.** We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening, however we do not have assurance at this time if and when the position will be finalized and opened. Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews.**The Lunar Terrain Vehicle - Embedded Software Engineer will:Design, implement, and maintain embedded flight software features with a focus on device I/O and hardware/software integrationDevelop and integrate software to support hardware/software interaction and system functionalityPerform analysis and testing of I/O performance for integrated hardware/software systems, including hands-on debugging using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal measurement toolsConduct hardware-in-the-loop testing and direct interaction with embedded systems in lab and test environments to validate system behavior and performanceOwn the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational supportContribute to Agile development cycles, including planning, integration, and verification activitiesIntegrate with a multi-disciplinary engineering teamInterface closely with hardware design and development teamsProvide technical input during major milestones and program reviewsPerform other duties as assignedRequired Education/Experience/Skills:BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or STEM, from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related software development experienceProficiency in object-oriented programming (e.g., C/C++)Experience with firmware, embedded software, and hardware/software integrationHands-on experience debugging embedded systems in lab environments using electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)Familiarity with serial communication protocols (e.g., RS-232, RS-422, RS-485)Familiarity with packet-based communication protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP/IP)Experience with Git-based platforms (e.g., GitLab, GitHub)Experience working on cross-disciplinary engineering teamsStrong communication, coordination, and presentation skillsProven ability to collaborate effectively with customers and stakeholdersPreferences:Experience supporting human spaceflight or exploration programsFamiliarity with embedded software frameworks (e.g., GSFC Core Flight Software (CFS))Experience with device driver developmentExperience with SpaceWire or similar space communication protocolsExperience with logging frameworks and software diagnostics architectureExperience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., xUnit)Experience with Windows and POSIX-based operating systemsExperience with containerization (e.g., Docker)Experience in Agile/Scrum development environmentsFamiliarity with CMMI frameworksMaster’s degree in a STEM fieldEssential RequirementsMust be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.Work may involve sitting for extended periods.May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.Thispositionmayrequiresomecommutingand travelingto other installations as needed.Don’t miss out on this great opportunity; for immediate consideration, apply now!Barrios Technology is a drug-free workplace, which is imperative to the health and safety of all employees and is required as a condition of receiving contracts from federal agencies.
