Assistant Controller

Description We are partnering with a wellu2011established, privately held organization near Annapolis, Maryland to identify a handsu2011on Assistant Controller. This is an onu2011site role supporting a complex accounting environment with multiple revenue streams, fund/account structures, and operational interdependencies. The position reports directly to senior finance leadership and plays a key role in dayu2011tou2011day accounting execution, monthu2011end close, and financial oversight. This opportunity is ideal for a detailu2011oriented accounting professional who enjoys technical depth, ownership of processes, and working closely with operations in a nonu2011corporate setting. Key Responsibilities + Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process + Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules + Oversee general ledger activity across multiple entities and/or funds + Assist with preparation of internal and external financial statements + Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis + Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls + Partner with external auditors and support audit requests + Assist with cash management, fixed assets, and complex accruals + Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function + Serve as a key backup to the Controller and mentor junior accounting staff as needed Requirements + Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting or Finance (required) + 5u20138+ years of progressive accounting experience + Experience in complex accounting environments (multiu2011entity, fund accounting, or highly transactional operations preferred) + Strong working knowledge of GAAP + Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems/ERPs + CPA or CPAu2011track strongly preferred + Comfortable working in a fully onu2011site environment + Detailu2011driven, organized, and comfortable operating with minimal structure Robert Half is the worldu2019s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
