Janitor

Rate: $23 USD per hour Description OVERVIEW: The Janitor position works under the supervision of the Shelter Director to assist in cleanliness for the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Ensure floors remain clear of all tripping and other hazards + Maintain and ensure all floors are clean, swept, mopped, and/or vacuumed + Maintain and ensure all restrooms are clean + Clean designated building areas + Perform and document routine inspection + Follow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage and hygiene best practices + Empty trash receptacles, recycling and compost bins + Ensure unused areas of the building are locked for safety and security + Other related duties as required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: + High School Diploma or equivalent (required) + Janitorial Experience SKILLS AND ABILITIES: + Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliances + Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail EQUIPMENT USED: + Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software + Janitorial and cleaning supplies PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
