To learn more about playing for Team Amcor, visit I LinkedIn I Glassdoor I Facebook I YouTube Position Summary The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products manufactured in the Print or Mold division meet Amcoru2019s strict quality, safety, and performance standards. This role supports production by conducting inspections, verifying compliance with established standards, performing testing, and documenting results. The Quality Inspector plays a key role in identifying nonconformities and communicating quality concerns to production leadership to maintain continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Quality Inspection & Approval + Inspect production processes and finished products for various quality attributes. + File and maintain standards for product quality, color, and performance. + Approve jobs to run by verifying that materials, setups, and standards comply with specification requirements. + Make informed decisions about product acceptability based on established criteria. Documentation & Reporting + Document and record quality-related data accurately and completely. + Complete QA check sheets, submission forms, and changeover documentation. + Identify and report quality defects to appropriate personnel promptly. + Keep supervisors and group leaders informed of critical or unresolved quality issues. Quality Standards & Testing + Establish and maintain color standards for print or molded products. + Conduct scheduled and unscheduled product audits. + Perform required quality testing using appropriate measurement tools and equipment. + Support root-cause identification and assist in corrective action activities when applicable. Operational & Team Support + Provide backup support to the Assistant Production Supervisor when required. + Collaborate with production teams to ensure quality requirements are understood and followed. + Maintain effective communication with operators, supervisors, and leadership. Safety & Compliance + Follow all safety rules and procedures. + Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). + Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with facility and regulatory requirements. Qualifications + High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. + One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with attention to detail and accuracy. + Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. + Basic computer proficiency for data entry and documentation. + Ability to use measurement tools (e.g., calipers, rulers, color standards) is a plus. Physical Demands The physical requirements for a Quality Inspector in a plastics manufacturing environment generally include: u2022 Standing and walking + Frequent standing and walking throughout the production floor to conduct inspections, audits, and testing. + May involve moving between multiple production lines or departments. u2022 Bending, twisting, and reaching + Regular reaching over and around equipment to collect samples or inspect product. + Occasional bending or kneeling to access low machinery, pallets, or bins. u2022 Lifting and carrying + Ability to lift up to 25u201350 lbs. , depending on plant requirements, such as moving sample boxes, resin containers, tooling, or finished product. + Carrying smaller items like test equipment, measuring tools, or documentation. u2022 Manual dexterity + Handling small components, measurement tools (calipers, micrometers), test samples, or print plates. + Precise color matching, sample cutting, or measuring. u2022 Visual demands + Close visual acuity for inspecting fine details, print quality, surface imperfections, or dimensional accuracy. + Ability to distinguish colors for color matching and color standard verification. u2022 Hearing + Ability to communicate in a moderately noisy manufacturing environment and hear alarms, equipment sounds, or safety signals. u2022 Mobility + Ability to move quickly between departments during quality checks or to address production issues. Work Environment Quality Inspectors in plastics manufacturing typically work in conditions such as: u2022 Industrial manufacturing setting + Exposure to production machinery, extrusion lines, molding presses, printing presses, and converting equipment. + Frequent presence on the shop floor as well as time in a quality lab environment. u2022 Noise levels + Moderate to high noise levels depending on the area; hearing protection may be required. u2022 Temperature fluctuations + Plant areas may be warmer near ovens, extruders, or molding machines. + Occasional exposure to cooler areas depending on storage or facility layout. u2022 Chemical exposure + Regular exposure to inks, solvents, cleaning agents, or raw materials used in plastics manufacturing. + Use of PPE required (gloves, safety glasses, respirators when necessary). u2022 Air quality + Possible airborne particles from resin, dust, scrap material, or grinding. + Facilities typically use ventilation systems, but PPE may still be required. u2022 Fastu2011paced production environment + Work may require quick decisionu2011making to support continuous production flow. + Interaction with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and engineering teams. u2022 Safety requirements + Must follow all plant safety policies, including PPE use, lockout/tagout awareness, and safe materialu2011handling practices. + PPE requires hard hat, steel toe or composite toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, hair net, beard net (if applicable), no jewelry of any kind. + Expected adherence to GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and quality standards. Hourly Range: $19.50 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience, $2.00 Night differential 12 hour rotating shift.
