Job Description

The Senior Manager of Special Events is responsible for the planning andexecution of all major ABCD events, and for the development and on-goingsupport of program and neighborhood events. Key Responsibilities Developand manage the design, logistics, budget, and participation in all theannual recognition and fundraising events, such as the Community HeroesCelebration, Hoop Dreams, Field of Dreams, and the Staff Celebration,and other important events for the organization. Oversee systems andtrack overall participation in the events, including maintenance ofattendance lists, sponsorships, and VIP involvement. Provide researchand support related to guests, sponsors, donors, public officials, andother potential participants. Coordinate and collaborate with internalteams, including public information, finance, executive, programs, andothers in the creation and production of invitations, guest lists, andspecial event-related materials. Support programs and neighborhood sitesin developing and implementing successful outreach, awareness, orresource development events. Coordinate with staff, ensure that eventscomply with outlined event procedures, including event logistics,materials, and day-of coordination and troubleshooting. Develop,implement, and maintain a yearly calendar of special events for theorganization in collaboration with Executive and other staff leadership.Develop systems and manage feedback and post-event follow-ups, includingthose related to development activities. Collaborate with the volunteeroffice to recruit, screen, and train volunteers for each of the neededfor the events. Maintain successful interpersonal relationships withindividual supporters, companies, and other external partners,prospective donors, and volunteers. Serve as liaison with third-partyorganizations and corporations that run events to benefit ABCD,providing guidance and support as needed. Collaborate as a member of thedevelopment team, contributing to broader efforts, communications, andsupport. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Minimum of a high school diploma/GED orequivalent and some college coursework with 5-10 years of relevantexperience required. Strong verbal communication skills. Strong computerskills, including Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to writeclearly and persuasively. Flexibility, initiative, and ability to workin a team required. Ability to deal sensitively and effectively withindividuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
