Consider joining the Pennex family as a Press Operator in our Leetonia, OH location. This position is responsible for the setting the billet length, furnace temperature controls, and press speed for optimum production and quality. The Press Operator watches metal for quality issues, such as pick up, tear out and die lines. This position makes appropriate adjustments to operating set-up to try to correct issues and reports problems to supervisor and management to improve productivity and quality. The Press Operator regularly checks all equipment reporting and immediately reports any problems to supervisor.Must be able to work any of the following shifts:Monday through Thursday: 8pm to 6am6am to 6pm (This shift would work 3 days one week, 4 days the next and includes every other weekend.)Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for setting billet length, billet temperature, ram speed, quench system set-up, and other Press Set points for optimum production and quality per recipeWatches metal for quality problems, such as pick up, tear out and die lines. Make appropriate changes to the process set up to correct and eliminate defects. Report problems to Foreman, Supervisor, and QA InspectorUtilizes calipers, micrometers, squares, and gages to inspect parts per customer requirements, part specific work instructions, and Aluminum Association StandardsAssists with set ups, tear downs and changeovers of tooling. Check die tooling to ensure proper set-up prior to the start of the next orderReports on die performance after an order is complete to the Die Shop for proper repair or polishing. Document any issues or problems per Work InstructionsAdjusts billet length to optimize yield, productivity, end scrap, and desired run out length.Regularly checks all equipment and report any possible problems to the Supervisor and Maintenance TechniciansBefore turning press over to maintenance for repairs and/or assisting with performing yourself, ensures proper lock-out / tag-out procedures are followedFills out any necessary paperwork during shiftMaintains a neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the Press DepartmentFollows Company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practicesPerforms other duties as assignedEducationHigh school diploma or equivalentOne or more years of experience and/or training as a press operator; or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperiencePrevious hydraulic press operation or minimum of metal machining experience preferredOther Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
