Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist sets up and operates CNC milling and lathe machines, with a focus on HAAS equipment, to produce precision components to blueprint specifications. This role combines hands-on machine operation with strong mechanical aptitude and careful attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities + Set up and operate CNC milling machines and lathes, with a primary focus on HAAS brand machines. + Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to produce parts to exact specifications. + Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine settings to optimize machining performance. + Monitor machining operations, make necessary offsets and adjustments, and ensure parts meet quality and dimensional requirements. + Perform basic troubleshooting on CNC machines and address minor mechanical or operational issues as they arise. + Inspect finished parts using appropriate measuring tools to verify conformance to specifications. + Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following all shop safety procedures and guidelines. + Collaborate with team members in production to meet daily schedules and production targets. + Document work performed and communicate any issues, variances, or improvement opportunities to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills + At least 5 years of hands-on machining experience, including CNC machine operation. + Proficiency in operating CNC milling machines and lathes. + Experience working with HAAS brand CNC machines. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings. + Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining processes. + Proven experience in machine operating in a production environment. + Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in both CNC milling and turning environments. + Familiarity with setting up and adjusting tooling and fixtures. + Ability to work effectively as part of a production team of varying sizes. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments to machining processes. Work Environment You will work in a production shop environment alongside a team of approximately 5 to 10 people within a larger production group of about 40 employees on a single shift. The role involves operating CNC milling and lathe machines, including HAAS brand equipment, in a hands-on, manufacturing setting. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Steel-toed shoes and jeans are part of the typical dress code, reflecting a practical and safety-conscious workplace focused on precision machining and teamwork. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Middleton, MA.
