Job Title: CNC Machinist (2nd Shift) Job Description This role involves setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes in a dynamic job shop environment, where you will work with a wide variety of parts and machines from 3-axis up to 5-axis and mill-turn equipment. You will perform setups, make program edits, and inspect parts to ensure they meet precise specifications, while being cross-trained on multiple types of machinery. Responsibilities + Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and mill-turn machines in a job shop environment. + Set up tooling, fixtures, and workholding for each job to ensure safe and efficient machining. + Adjust speeds, feeds, offsets, and changeovers on CNC machines as required for each part. + Read and interpret G and M codes, and make program edits directly at the machine when necessary. + Run first-piece parts and perform first-piece inspections to verify conformance to specifications. + Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and Zoller or similar presetting tools to maintain tight tolerances. + Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, and check parts against blueprint requirements. + Operate a variety of CNC machines, including 3-axis to 5-axis equipment, and adapt to different setups and run times. + Work on jobs with run times ranging from a few minutes to a few hours, consistently maintaining quality across varying work. + Participate in cross-training on different machines and processes to support a flexible and versatile shop floor. + Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures. Essential Skills + Experience setting up CNC machines, including mills and lathes, in a machining environment. + Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges. + Ability to adjust speeds, feeds, offsets, and perform changeovers on CNC machines. + Experience working on 3-axis CNC machines or greater, including multi-axis and mill-turn equipment. + Ability to read and interpret G and M codes and make program edits at the machine. + Strong ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings. + High school diploma or GED. + Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in a job shop environment with varying part numbers and short to medium run times. + Comfort working with both mills and lathes, including 3-axis to 5-axis and mill-turn machines. + Ability to adapt quickly to new jobs and changing priorities. + Willingness to be cross-trained on a variety of machinery and processes. + Strong problem-solving skills when troubleshooting setups, tooling, and machining issues. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr.
