Job Title: Production Laborer u2013 Blast, Paint, and Woodshop Support Job Description This role supports a busy fabrication and finishing operation by working across blasting, painting, and woodworking areas to keep production flowing smoothly. You prepare and finish parts, operate industrial equipment and hand tools, and help ensure every product meets quality and safety standards. The position is hands-on, fast-paced, and ideal for someone who enjoys variety, working with tools, and taking pride in precise, high-quality workmanship. Responsibilities + Rotate between blasting, paint, and woodworking areas based on production needs to prevent bottlenecks and keep jobs moving efficiently through each stage. + Perform abrasive blasting to clean and prepare metal and other surfaces by removing rust, coatings, and debris so parts are ready for finishing. + Prepare surfaces for the production team by cleaning, masking, and ensuring proper profiles for coatings and finishes. + Operate woodworking equipment such as table saws, miter saws, routers, sanders, planers, and pneumatic nailers to cut, shape, and prepare components according to drawings and cut lists. + Support the final assembly of wood products, ensuring components fit correctly and meet dimensional and visual standards. + Apply primers, stains, sealers, lacquers, and finish coats using HVLP and airless spray systems to achieve consistent, defect-free finishes. + Perform masking and basic color matching to meet specified finishing requirements and appearance standards. + Inspect materials and finished parts throughout the process to verify that workmanship, dimensions, and finishes meet established quality requirements. + Conduct routine quality control checks and communicate any defects, inconsistencies, or process issues to appropriate team members. + Clean and maintain spray equipment, sandblasters, and woodshop tools, including basic preventative maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation. + Organize and maintain a clean, orderly work area in alignment with 5S principles and shop standards. + Follow OSHA regulations and all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and respirators when required. + Handle loading and movement of materials and finished parts, including lifting and positioning items as needed. + Identify and troubleshoot basic mechanical or material issues during blasting, finishing, or woodworking processes and take corrective action when appropriate. + Read and interpret technical drawings, cut lists, and work orders to perform tasks accurately and efficiently. + Adapt to changing priorities and switch tasks mid-shift to support urgent jobs or shifting production demands. Essential Skills + Experience supporting production in a blast and paint shop or similar industrial or construction environment. + Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, including saws, routers, sanders, pneumatic nailers, and related equipment. + Ability to operate industrial spray guns and sandblasters safely and effectively. + Demonstrated skill in surface preparation, including cleaning, masking, and preparing parts for coatings or finishing. + Experience with staining, sealing, lacquering, and applying finish coats to achieve consistent quality results. + Ability to perform quality control checks and identify defects or inconsistencies in materials and finished parts. + Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cut lists, and work orders. + High attention to detail in measuring, cutting, assembly, and finishing tasks. + Physical stamina, including the ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on your feet in varied temperatures and dusty environments. + Commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to OSHA regulations and shop safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Hands-on experience in a large fabrication shop, paint shop, woodworking shop, or related production environment. + Familiarity with HVLP and airless spray systems for applying primers, stains, and finish coats. + Knowledge of wood grains, metal surface grit requirements, and basic chemical mixing ratios for coatings and finishes. + Experience with masking techniques and basic color matching to meet specific finishing requirements. + Ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on spray equipment, blasting machines, and woodshop tools. + Adaptability and willingness to move between different work areas and tasks as production priorities change. + Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve mechanical or material issues quickly during production. + Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment You work in a large fabrication shop that combines blasting, painting, and woodworking operations. The environment can be hot or cold depending on the season and is often dusty due to blasting and wood processing. You regularly use industrial spray guns, sandblasters, table saws, miter saws, routers, sanders, planers, and pneumatic nailers, along with other hand and power tools. The role is physically demanding, requiring frequent lifting of 50+ pounds, standing, and moving throughout the shop. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators when needed, is provided and required, and the workspace follows 5S principles to promote cleanliness, organization, and safety. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Bardstown, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $45760.00/yr.
