This role offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic, well-structured technology team while supporting state-of-the-art voice, network, and unified communications systems citywide. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Cisco on-premises telephony services and is comfortable maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex voice infrastructure. This experience will be especially important in the near term as the city continues to support its existing phone environment while preparing for an upcoming migration to a modern, cloud-based telephony platform in the near future. This position supports a wide range of city operations, with opportunities to work at diverse City of Boise locations, including the Boise Airport, police facilities, fire stations, and other sites where reliable voice services are essential. It is well suited for a skilled voice engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, collaborating across departments, and contributing to high-impact technology initiatives that improve communication services citywide. Experience with cloud voice platforms, telephony modernization, or large-scale migration projects is highly valued. This position is hybrid eligible and requires residency in the Boise metro area. Candidates must currently live in the area or be prepared to relocate at their own expense prior to employment. No relocation assistance is provided.
