Primary Purpose of Job Howmet Aerospace Cleveland Operations - Structures Systems, a forging facility located at 1600 Harvard Ave., is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for any of the following shifts based on business need: 1st Shift (6:30AM u00e2u0080u0093 2:30PM); 2nd Shift (2:30PM u00e2u0080u0093 10:30PM); 3rd Shift (10:30PM u00e2u0080u0093 6:30AM) to join its Maintenance Department. Under the direction of the Maintenance Area Lead, this position is responsible for training, coaching, and motivating hourly crafts personnel to provide reliable equipment consistent with customer quality and delivery requirements. Direct reports include the hourly personnel assigned to work within and during the incumbentu00e2u0080u0099s area and shift. The incumbent communicates continually with the Engineering and EHS Departments, as well as Control Technicians, the Maintenance Area Lead, and various other Maintenance and Production Leads. Externally, they communicate with vendors and contractors. Accountability Objectives Responsibilities include but are not limited to: u00e2u0080u00a2 Coaching, supervising, and training skilled craftspeople, apprentices, and laborers in the repair and maintenance activities associated with their assigned shift and areas. u00e2u0080u00a2 Assuming single point accountability for maintenance activities on respective shift. u00e2u0080u00a2 Performing front line trouble shooting activities on equipment in area of responsibility. u00e2u0080u00a2 Directing safety awareness programs to manage work force safety, maintain housekeeping, and assist the Production team in area safety analysis. u00e2u0080u00a2 Coordinating PM and other outage activities on equipment in area of responsibility. u00e2u0080u00a2 Planning the daily activities for assigned maintenance crews, as well as provide the tools, materials, and technical direction for normal maintenance, preventative maintenance, and capital work in responsible areas. u00e2u0080u00a2 Performing root cause analysis and u00e2u0080u009c5-whyu00e2u0080u009d techniques to eliminate maintenance downtime. u00e2u0080u00a2 Working with the Engineering Department on repetitive maintenance problems to continuously improve the reliability of the equipment and facilities in designated area. u00e2u0080u00a2 Coordinating and managing the development of maintenance work procedures and standard practices to maximize quality work and eliminate waste. u00e2u0080u00a2 Driving continuous improvement activities to eliminate all waste, especially in relation to maintenance downtime, safety, work practices, and employee involvement. u00e2u0080u00a2 Assisting other Maintenance Supervisors, as needed. u00e2u0080u00a2 Managing applicable labor issues effectively within respective work area. u00e2u0080u00a2 Performing administrative requirements to effectively manage work force. u00e2u0080u00a2 Performing other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have: u00e2u0080u00a2 A High School Diploma or GED equivalent, from an accredited institution. u00e2u0080u00a2 Minimum 5 years of electrical or mechanical experience. u00e2u0080u00a2 Minimum 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, or minimum 1 year of internal maintenance journeymen experience. u00e2u0080u00a2 Minimum 1 year of experience in a unionized work environment. u00e2u0080u00a2 This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. Preferred Qualifications For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with: u00e2u0080u00a2 A technical college degree, from an accredited institution, or journeyman status. u00e2u0080u00a2 Experience with Allen Bradley programable logic controllers. u00e2u0080u00a2 Working knowledge of motor control centers and distribution controls systems. u00e2u0080u00a2 Strong written and oral communication skills. u00e2u0080u00a2 Demonstrated ability to work in and lead a multi-dimensional team. u00e2u0080u00a2 Troubleshooting experience on hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Working Conditions This position involves moderate exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed on the shop floor. While not exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full PPE to protect from mobile equipment, hot materials, and noise when on the shop floor. This position requires moderate physical activity, such as walking, standing, sitting, reaching, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting up to, but not exceeding, 30-pounds. This position also requires the willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule, which involves modifying a typical work week to cover for absent supervisors and work the occasional weekend.
