FTE: 0.001000 Standard Hours: 0.01 Shift: Shift 1 ShiftDetails: One 12-hour shift/week Holidays: N/A Weekends: N/A Job Summary:4NE: Internal Medicine/Cystic Fibrosis unit offers a welcoming andsupportive environment where nurses are encouraged to grow, collaborate,and make a meaningful impact every day. The Nurse Extern is responsiblefor assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care foran identified group of patients in assigned patient care area under thedirect supervision of a Registered Nurse. Other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: If in a 4-year program, a minimum experience oftwo acute care medical-surgical clinical rotations (or onemedical-surgical rotation and one clinical rotation which is pertinentto the clinical area applying for) from an accredited school of nursingis required. If in a 2-year program or accelerated/direct entry, must bein or have completed one medical - surgical clinical rotation along withpertinent work experience is required. In addition, at least one of theclinical rotations must have included medication administration. Nursingcourses/clinicals must have provided theory, knowledge and experience inproviding patient care, performing patient care procedures andtechniques, as well as knowledge and experience in performing physicalassessments, gathering of history data, development of nursing careplans and medical record documentation. Experience of six months or moreas a nursing assistant is preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Currentlyenrolled in an accredited School of Nursing is required, or a graduateof an accredited School of Nursing prepared to take the NCLEX or waitingto retake the NCLEX exam for a second time. SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:Ability to read, write, understand, perform simple arithmetic, andfollow directions related to basic patient care. Interpersonal skillsnecessary to interact with patients, visitors, and physicians in acourteous manner. Ability to complete simple comparisons betweennumbers. Ability to show experience in 60 percent of essentialfunctions. Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail for 80percent of work time when performing basic patient care tasks. Abilityto walk and stand for up to 80 percent of work time and to lift andposition patients for up to 20 percent of work time. LICENSUREDESCRIPTION: State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification ispreferred, otherwise must provide documentation from an accreditedschool for professional nurses indicating successful completion of thebasic nursing course which encompass all of the criteria noted by theState of Wisconsin administrative code. American Heart Association (AHA)Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approvedequivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
