DEPARTMENT: Management Information Systems, Central New York Regional Transportation AuthoritySALARY RANGE: Grade 4 - $48,792 to $54,537Note: Starting salary is determined by evaluation of experience and qualifications for the position and will be set at some point between the minimum and maximum of the pay scale.JOB SUMMARY: This position fields Tier 1 help desk calls by phone, email, in person, and remote support. Provides technical support to end users by installing peripherals, troubleshooting problems, researching and answering questions, maintaining workstations and supporting LAN performance. Delivers security support and reports any observation of potential security, performance, and/or interruption of connectivity issues to IT Management. Position is non-exempt.MAJOR DUTIES:1. Respond in a friendly manor to helpdesk requests via telephone, email, or in-person with all network users at all Centro locations to the users satisfaction.2. Installs, maintains, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and software.3. Responsible for timely response to helpdesk tickets and routing requests to the appropriate MIS staff member when contacted by an end user.4. Provides general help desk support for Microsoft Office and desktop related applications.5. Installs, maintains, upgrades software and operating systems; installs security patches in a timely manner.6. Troubleshoots and repairs damaged, disabled, and malfunctioning systems, computers, software, and related hardware.7. Provides inventory information and routinely updates data records and prepares equipment for auctioning or disposing of hardware equipment.8. Participates in the researching, testing, and evaluation of new technologies, systems, hardware, and software for future integration, as assigned.9. Researches and acquires specifications and pricing for new systems, hardware, and software.10. Sets up and tears down workstations, servers, and peripherals.11. Performs other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:Education/Experience: Associates Degree in any field dealing with Information Technology preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.1. Knowledge of computer repair, maintenance, and networking.2. Knowledge of TCP/IP and other networking protocols.3. Able to learn the interaction of various standard office software packages, platforms, and applications with network hardware4. Skilled in the use of various computer software packages and operating environments, including but not limited to Windows 10 and Server 2012, 2016, & 2019. Familiarity with Ubuntu & Linux a plus.5. Skilled in troubleshooting and repair of computers, networks, and peripherals.6. Skilled in organizing and prioritizing work.7. Skilled in listening, oral, and written communication.8.
