Job Description

Two direct hire opportunities are available for inpatient pharmacists specializing in oncology and hematology to join a well-respected medical center in Chicago. These roles focus on delivering expert pharmaceutical care to patients undergoing treatment for malignant hematology, medical oncology, gynecologic oncology, and stem cell transplant (SCT) therapies. The selected pharmacists will contribute meaningfully to interdisciplinary patient care teams and have a direct impact on patient outcomes in an acute care setting. Responsibilities include attending daily rounds with the oncology care teams to design, implement, and monitor medication regimens, reviewing chemotherapy and other drug therapy orders for safety and efficacy, reconciling home medications, and providing pharmacokinetic consultations. You'll also counsel patients and caregivers on medication adherence and adverse effects, manage order verifications, assist nursing staff with medication-related inquiries, and be involved in facilitating chemotherapy desensitizations when needed. The work schedule involves typical inpatient hours with day and evening shifts and rotating weekends. Desired qualifications for this role are: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Illinois Pharmacist License or eligibility to obtain one Post Graduate ASHP Year Two Pharmacy Residency in Hematology/Oncology strongly preferred Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) prior to or within 18 months of hire BLS Certification Solid knowledge of intravenous admixture, drug therapy, chemotherapy, and cellular therapies Ability to work collaboratively and independently with excellent problem-solving skills Candidates with residency training are ideal, but those with a solid foundation in oncology pharmacy will also be considered. Experience in an inpatient oncology setting and familiarity with EPIC EMR is beneficial. This is a direct hire position with competitive compensation aligned to experience.
