Job Title: CAD Drafter You will play a key role in transforming architectural concepts and design intent into accurate technical drawings and 3D models for custom millwork production. This position involves preparing detailed shop drawings, collaborating with design and production teams, and ensuring all designs are practical, precise, and compliant with industry standards. You will manage projects from initial field measurements through final fabrication, helping to ensure a smooth and efficient production process. Key Responsibilities + Translate architectural and design intent into detailed shop drawings for component assembly. + Conduct field visits to take measurements, verify site conditions, and ensure dimensional accuracy. + Prepare cut lists and coordinate with CNC machining for part fabrication. + Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, designers, and shop personnel throughout the design and production process. + Identify and resolve potential assembly or dimensional conflicts before they reach the shop floor. + Maintain organized project documentation and adhere to established timelines. + Oversee assigned projects from field verification through final fabrication. + Produce accurate technical drawings, shop drawings, and 3D models for custom millwork, casework, cabinetry, and fixtures using AutoCAD. Essential Skills + Daily, hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD. + Strong understanding of millwork, joinery, and woodworking methods. + Experience drafting architectural or millwork drawings. + Ability to read, interpret, and create architectural blueprints and detailed construction drawings. + Strong communication and collaboration skills. + Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Microvellum is a significant plus. + Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as SketchUp or SolidWorks. + Prior experience in millwork drafting or a related engineering role preferred. + Bacheloru2019s degree or relevant technical certification in architecture, engineering, or a related field is a plus. Work Environment + Casual, production-focused work environment + Located in a warehouse facility attached to the office in the tri-state area + Work closely with designers + Report directly to the VP of Millwork + No holidays or vacation time during the initial six-month period + One week of sick leave may be accrued + All millwork is custom fabricated on-site + Projects primarily support residential, restaurant, and retail build-outs Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melville, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
