As a result of continued rapid growth, we are currently seeking a Systems Development Engineer within Global Engineering Services. This role requires up to 75% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided. Key job responsibilities This role will be responsible for collaborating with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) on developing, standardizing, implementing, and troubleshooting controls, electrical, and hardware solutions for robotics and material handling systems, act as a liaison for internal and external resources, and develop to meet scaling needs. The Systems Development Engineer will be defining requirements and standards from individual work cells to large complex MHE integration across multiple vendors. The position will balance controls and software integration between internal and external stakeholders, as well as provide commissioning support to the Operations Engineering Teams on achieving system performance prior to/during/and after launch of greenfield sites and/or retrofit sites. The following roles and responsibilities are required for a successful Systems Development Engineer: u2022 Prepare specifications and technical detail to fully define performance on equipment, material and services u2022 Perform programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial power controller (IPC) control level issues and performance diagnosis u2022 Define and measure system performance KPIs, leveraging industry standard PackML u2022 Follow and enforce industrial network security requirements u2022 Follow change management process and develop ad-hoc PLC ladder and/or structured text code change u2022 Provide detailed analysis and testing of existing and new engineering solutions and components u2022 Work with IT, FC Software, Vendors, and Operations Engineering to support new material handling equipment (MHE) systems deployments u2022 Undertake industrial engineering design on existing and new material handling systems across World Wide network u2022 Develop and standardize modular PLC or IPC code that can be utilized for vendors to utilize in the MHE systems u2022 Provide technical documentation such as flow diagrams, conveyor and equipment layouts, installation details, and integration specifications u2022 Support commissioning of new automation elements / designs u2022 Actively participate in local or World-Wide network level control projects and Initiatives u2022 Provide value engineering/ value analysis u2022 Ensures adherence to all Health & Safety (H&S) procedures. Be proactive in the raising of potential H&S issues and the development of personal safety awareness u2022 Use AutoCAD to review, develop and maintain electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings u2022 Fully understand and ensure procedural adherence to industry operating standards such as the NEC and NFPA. u2022 Support emulation and simulation modeling of material handling systems. u2022 Document control system and equipment configuration changes and keep the documentation updated on the global project repository u2022 Partner with all FC stakeholders in order to build effective relationships u2022 Conduct Post go-audits to determine what good looks like with the stakeholders of the fulfillment centers. u2022 Ability to travel up to 75% A day in the life Amazon Benefits: Amazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children.
