Principal Engineer- Broker Applications

Job Description As a Principal Software Engineer on the Broker Applications team, you will serve as the senior technical authority for the clientu2011facing application layer that connects the Certent Equity Management (CEM) platform to a growing portfolio of brokeru2011dealer partners. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be the technical lead for a team of engineers and matrixed QA specialists, owning the applicationu2011side development that powers broker integrationsu2014from supporting existing partners to onboarding new ones. This is a pure individual contributor role operating at a highu2011visibility intersection of engineering and client engagement. The Broker Applications team carries one of the organizationu2019s top strategic priorities for 2026u2014expanding the broker partner ecosystemu2014and you will be a key contributor to that growth. You will work closely with the Platform Integrations and Platform Services teams when new data connections are required, but your team is the primary engineering point of contact for broker partners and will interface directly with them throughout the delivery lifecycle. The right candidate is a seasoned engineer with deep fullu2011stack expertise, strong clientu2011facing instincts, and the ability to translate brokeru2011specific requirements into platformu2011generic solutions that scale across the CEM client base. Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Delivery u2003u2022 Serve as the senior technical authority for the Broker Applications team, making dayu2011tou2011day engineering decisions, setting the bar for code quality, and ensuring the team delivers highu2011quality software on schedule. u2003u2022 Write, review, and contribute productionu2011quality code across the full stack, including C#/.NET, Angular, and Oracle, as an active handsu2011on member of the team. u2003u2022 Lead architecture discussions and make technical recommendations that align with the longu2011term CEM platform strategy, ensuring brokeru2011specific work generalizes across the broader client base wherever possible. u2003u2022 Hold the team accountable to engineering standards including unit testing, code review discipline, definition of done, and release readiness. u2003u2022 Partner with Platform Integrations and Platform Services teams to design and implement new data connections required for broker onboarding and feature delivery. Broker Onboarding & Partner Engagement u2003u2022 Serve as the senior technical point of contact for brokeru2011dealer partners, engaging directly on requirements, integration design, technical issue resolution, and delivery status. u2003u2022 Lead the technical execution of new broker onboarding engagements, translating partneru2011specific requirements into wellu2011scoped, platformu2011generic solutions. u2003u2022 Dig into root business problems rather than accepting requirements at face value, advocating for solutions that work across the full broker partner portfolio rather than oneu2011off builds. u2003u2022 Partner with the Engineering Manager and Product Management to ensure broker requirements are wellu2011defined, properly scoped, and sequenced for delivery. u2003u2022 Build credibility with broker partners through technical depth, delivery consistency, and clear communication. Crossu2011Functional Collaboration u2003u2022 Partner closely with the Platform Integrations and Platform Services teams on new data connections, integration patterns, and shared technical standards. u2003u2022 Coordinate with matrixed QA engineers to ensure test coverage, quality gates, and release readiness are met across brokeru2011specific workflows. u2003u2022 Collaborate with Principal Engineers, the Solution Architect, and peer Lead Engineers on crossu2011team technical decisions. u2003u2022 Surface delivery risks, technical blockers, and scope concerns to the Engineering Manager early and clearly. Technical Mentorship u2003u2022 Set the technical bar for the team by establishing coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering practices the rest of the team follows. u2003u2022 Mentor engineers on fullu2011stack development best practices, broker integration patterns, and professional development. u2003u2022 Contribute to crossu2011team technical forums alongside Principal Engineers, the Solution Architect, and Engineering Managers.
