Job Description The Lab Test Technician supports laboratory and engineering operations by coordinating shipping and receiving activities, managing instrumentation and materials, assisting with assembly and disassembly tasks, and maintaining accurate inventory and calibration records. This hands-on role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and strict adherence to defined standard operating procedures (SOPs) and lab safety standards, particularly those related to high-voltage batteries. Responsibilities + Track and manage parts in alignment with active build schedules and board IDs to ensure timely availability of components. + Support all shipping and receiving activities for laboratory operations, including proper documentation and labeling. + Assist with assembly and disassembly of test setups and lab builds, following documented procedures and safety guidelines. + Remove components from larger assemblies, such as lights and switches, as required for testing or rework. + Support lab builds and testing setups by preparing materials, tools, and equipment according to engineering requirements. + Manage department instrumentation inventory, ensuring accurate records of available tools and equipment. + Maintain annual calibration records for lab instruments and coordinate calibration activities as needed. + Track equipment sign-in and sign-out to ensure proper use, accountability, and availability of lab assets. + Use communication and tracking tools to report status, issues, and needs related to lab operations and inventory. Essential Skills + Hands-on experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or engineering support environment preferred. + Ability to perform basic assembly and disassembly tasks using hand tools and material handling equipment. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, tracking, and reporting. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing parts, inventory, and records. + Ability to follow documented processes, SOPs, and safety standards consistently. + Competence in inventory management and inventory tracking for parts and instruments. + Ability to support shipping and receiving operations, including logging, tracking, and documentation. Work Environment This role is based in a laboratory and engineering support environment that focuses on testing and development activities, including work with high-voltage battery systems. The position involves frequent hands-on tasks such as handling parts, operating test equipment, using hand tools, and moving materials with appropriate material handling equipment. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety procedures, clear documentation, and organized workflows. The technician typically works standard laboratory or engineering support hours, with periods of higher activity aligned to build schedules and testing milestones. Appropriate lab attire and any required personal protective equipment are expected in all work areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Allen Park, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
