The Executive Office of Veterans Services is actively seeking qualifiedcandidates for the role of Deputy Legislative Director. Reporting to theLegislative Director, the Deputy Legislative Director is responsible forsupporting and monitoring the Executive Office of Veterans? Services(EOVS) legislative agenda, as well as policy and advocacy initiativesthat impact service members, veterans, and their families. The DeputyLegislative Director will focus on the development of legislative,policy, and political strategies to promote EOVS programs, services, andAdministration priorities. This role supports EOVS relations withfederal, state, and local elected officials, as well as their staff, andassists in educating legislators on Veterans? Services programs,services, and the needs of the Secretariat in administering criticalfunctions and supports. The Deputy Legislative Director manages andcoordinates legislative inquiries and touchpoints to ensure accurate andtimely responses, as well as consistency with Administration goals andobjectives. The Deputy Legislative Director is responsible fordeveloping and tracking agency initiatives and legislative responses,totaling hundreds of bills each legislative session. This includesmonitoring the annual budget cycle, supplemental budgets, legislativeamendments, and other policy initiatives that may impact EOVSoperations, veterans? services, and related appropriations. Thisposition also supports the preparation of legislative briefingmaterials, testimony, bill summaries, and policy memoranda for theSecretary, Legislative Director, and senior leadership team. The roleworks closely with program leadership across EOVS and the Governor?sOffice to coordinate responses to legislative and budget-relatedmatters. The Deputy Legislative Director also plays a key role insupporting the Legislative Director and Chief of Staff withadministrative support for the Secretary, including assisting withlegislative meetings, hearings, public events, and stakeholderengagement activities, and ensuring the Secretary is appropriatelybriefed and prepared for all legislative and policy-related addition, this role will be required to support boards, commissions,councils, working groups, and other executive or legislative meetingsinvolving the Secretariat, including preparation of materials, meetingsupport, and follow-up on action items. The position will also assistwith event planning and operational support for high-profile EOVS eventsand ceremonies, including but not limited to Veterans Day, MilitaryAppreciation Day, and other statewide initiatives, as needed to supportthe Secretary and executive leadership. The Deputy Legislative Directormay be required to travel statewide to support legislative meetings,EOVS events, hearings, and stakeholder engagement activities.
