Provides support to the clinical team in the provision of surgical and procedural care. Assists by cleaning rooms and equipment, procuring and storing equipment, room set up and opening sterile supplies. Responsible for the transport and hand-off of specimens to lab. Performs high level disinfection of endoscopes and other equipment. Provides transportation and other assistance with patient care under the supervision of the circulator. Works as a member of the procedural team.JOB DUTIES1. Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values.2. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information3. Performs a variety of tasks such as assisting with positioning of patients for procedures, care and handling of all equipment, assists with delegated aspects of direct patient care.4. Works in a collaborative manner in addressing patient care issues maintaining open communications with the charge nurse. Supports the charge nurse in ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, cost-effective holistic patient care.5. Manages disinfection and proper storage of surgical equipment as well as an organized and clean storage area.6. Shares knowledge and expertise with others. Ensures that staff members are trained and cross-trained to function independently. Assures new staff is oriented to area of specialty.7. Performs point of use cleaning and disinfection of sterile instruments8. Performs high-level disinfection (HLD) of endoscopes and other patient care equipment. Monitors quality and maintains records per regulatory requirements.9. Participates in activities which promote personal/professional development10. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed which may include:a. Receiving, sorting and stocking procedural suppliesb. Maintaining a clean, neat and orderly work environmentc. Demonstrates competency in the use of appropriate computer functions and applicationsd. Departmental stocking11. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESEducation: High School Diploma required. Some college preferred.Licensure/Certification: CPR certification on hire or able to attain within 60 daysExperience: One year of hospital experience. Bedside experience and/or sterilization experience preferred.Other Job Requirements:Requires the ability to work in a team and employ effective communication skills.
