No County Monroe Street Address 620 Westfall Road City Rochester State NY Zip Code 14620 Duties Description The person selected for the Senior Recreation Therapist position will be developing, planning, and managing recreational services for assigned caseload.Duties include:u2022 Facilitating person-centered activities, coordinating community inclusion opportunities, organizing recreation resources and monthly calendar of events for assigned homes.u2022 Functions as a team member, attending monthly QLRs, providing monthly recreation summaries including inclusion tracking documentation.u2022 Ensuring ongoing communication with treatment teams while maintaining consistent contact with the house recreation liaison.u2022 Building connections with community organizations, including Special Olympics, to accommodate a broad range of backgrounds, abilities, and diagnoses while ensuring individual interests are addressed and appropriate modifications are made.u2022 Ordering and maintaining recreation supplies and equipment for assigned activities.u2022 Attending region wide Recreation Department meetingsu2022 Leading regular meetings with area Recreation Therapistsu2022 Leading and providing formal training related to Recreation Therapy functions.u2022 Effective communication, writing, and organizational skills are essential for this positionSHIFT/PASS DAYS: 9:00am-5:30pm (2 shifts) 11:00am-7:30pm (3 shifts)Saturday/Sunday pass dayPlease note: Some weekends will be required for this position#LI-KB1 Minimum Qualifications Either1. a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation;Or2. a bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education AND one year of experience in planning and administering a therapeutic recreation program which involved developing and coordinating therapeutic recreational activities for geriatric patients/residents, individuals with developmental disabilities, individuals with psychiatric disabilities, individuals that are physically challenged, or individuals in treatment for chemical dependency;Or3. current credentials as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC), 7 Elmwood Drive, New City, NY 10956. Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status.
