Actalent is Hiring a Team of Pharmacy Technicians - Fully Remote Must Have National Certification Job Description This remote Pharmacy Technician role focuses on reviewing and processing prior authorizations for a large healthcare insurance pharmacy services department. You will evaluate prescription exception requests, determine whether to approve or deny them based on established criteria, and route them to a pharmacist for final review. The position involves working with all health plans and a wide range of medications, supporting both members and prescribers through claim resolution, outreach, and issue escalation. Responsibilities + Review prior authorization requests for pharmacy services to determine whether to approve or deny based on established guidelines and criteria. + Submit all prior authorization decisions to a pharmacist for final review and sign-off. + Process prescription exceptions, including resolving claim rejects and addressing member and physician concerns. + Enter accurate member demographics and prescription information into the data processing system and related platforms. + Research and resolve rejected insurance billing issues, including complex or escalated cases. + Escalate clinical or interpretation questions regarding prescriptions to a pharmacist for clarification and direction. + Assist with inbound and outbound calls with patients, members, and physicians to obtain information, provide status updates, and resolve issues. + Handle pharmacy benefit questions and prescription benefit inquiries in a professional, service-oriented manner. + Work efficiently in a high-volume, remote environment using multiple screens and systems simultaneously. + Maintain confidentiality of member information and comply with all applicable pharmacy and insurance regulations. + Participate in scheduled training, follow established workflows, and adhere to department performance and quality standards. + Support rotating weekend and holiday coverage as part of the team schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Current national pharmacy technician certification (such as PTCB or NHA). + Current registration as a pharmacy technician in the state of residence. + High school diploma or GED. + Experience in a call center or pharmacy benefit management (PBM) environment. + Experience as a pharmacy technician in environments such as retail pharmacy, hospital, specialty pharmacy, call center, or pharmacy benefit management (PBM). + Background in hospital or specialty pharmacy settings. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering data and processing claims. + Ability to manage a high volume of work while maintaining quality and compliance. + Comfort working in a fully remote, professional environment with minimal direct supervision. + Interest in long-term career growth within a large, nationwide healthcare organization. + Ability to adapt to changing schedules, including participation in a holiday bid process for coverage. Work Environment This is a fully remote, professional pharmacy services position. You will work from your own dedicated office space with a closed door to ensure privacy and focus. A reliable high-speed Wiu2011Fi connection and a smartphone are required. The company provides core equipment, including a computer, monitor, and headset. Training runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time; after training, you will transition to a regular shift within the Mondayu2013Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. window in your local time zone. The schedule includes rotating weekend shifts approximately every 4u20136 weeks and some holiday coverage, with holiday schedules assigned through a bidding process. You will work in multiple systems and across several screens, handling pharmacy benefit and prior authorization tasks in a structured, metrics-driven environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
