Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Summary Performs journeyman level work and installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Maintains the facilities, with a focus on electrical work. Adheres to expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values. Major Areas of Responsibility/Essential Function % of Time 1. Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. u00b7 Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components and repairs. u00b7 Inspects systems and electrical parts to detect hazards, defects, and need for adjustments or repair. u00b7 Maintains and repairs or replaces wiring, equipment and fixtures and removes unused wiring. u00b7 Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and oscilloscope. u00b7 Readies and assembles electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. u00b7 Climbs ladder to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. 60% 2. Performs preventative maintenance on facility equipment. u00b7 Determines the equipment needed to perform specific job. u00b7 Adheres to procedure for specific task. u00b7 Performs tasks according to procedure. u00b7 Verifies proper functionality of the piece of equipment. u00b7 Follows through on inoperative equipment, to include generating a work order and ensuring that work order is completed. u00b7 Maintains 95% completion rating on assigned PMu2019s. 15% 3. Performs routine repair work. u00b7 Determines the equipment needed to perform specific repair. u00b7 Performs repair work. u00b7 Documents work performed on work order and presents to clerical support staff for record keeping. u00b7 Identifies other repair needs and generates work orders. 10% 4. Operates and maintains boiler room. u00b7 Monitors equipment. u00b7 Identifies problems and takes next steps. u00b7 Communicates to next shift. 1% 5. Demonstrates competency of building systems. u00b7 Knowledgeable of medical gas systems. u00b7 Knowledgeable of heating and cooling systems: u00b7 Chiller start-up u00b7 Boiler start-up u00b7 Air handle unit start-up u00b7 Monitors and sets up negative pressure rooms. u00b7 Knowledgeable in utility systems. 9% 6. Adheres to all safety, infection control and employee health policies and procedures. u00b7 Attends required safety programs. u00b7 Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job. u00b7 Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations. u00b7 Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture. u00b7 Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved. u00b7 Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits. Education and Experience: + High School plus specialized training 5 u2013 7 years -(min. 6 months u2013 2 years): Education and/or experience sufficient to obtain electrician license. + 0 u2013 2 years - Education and/or experience sufficient to obtain electrician license. Experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required: (i.e. supervision, computers, etc.) Intermediate language, basic math, high reasoning ability. Personal computer. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical inclination. Certification/Licensure Required for Job: Electrician license. If driving, valid Iowa driveru2019s license. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire. Category I u2013 Performs tasks which involve exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue. Category II u2013 Performs tasks which involve no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, but may perform unplanned Category I tasks.
