Summary The Senior Social Worker will function as an integral member of the assigned outpatient mental health multidisciplinary treatment team, actively participating in patient assessment, treatment planning, case management, and provision of a full range of clinical treatment and services to all assigned Veteran patients. Responsibilities VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties for this position may include (but are not limited to): Develops an extensive psychosocial assessment of the Veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Veteran, family members, and significant others and uses that assessment to develop a treatment plan. Conducts structured assessments and clinical interviews. Provides treatment to a wide range of patient needs, including chronic mental illness, unexpected physical limitations, and prolonged and/or repeated exposure to battlefield trauma and operational stress. Conducts individual as well as marital and family therapy, and serves as primary therapist in treatment groups. Utilizes various clinical treatment modalities including case management, patient/family education, and Evidence-Based Psychotherapy (EBP) approaches. Serves as a subject matter expert on VA and/or community resources for Veteran patients and families. Educates Veterans, family members, and other care givers of available services and assists them in establishing referrals to these services. Makes rapid assessments and develops crisis management plans for admission to mental health inpatient programs. Documents all patient care assessments, interventions, and treatment progress in the Electronic Patient Health Records system in a timely manner consistent with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies' requirements. Serves as a field instructor and preceptor, supervising the training of social work graduate-level interns. Participates in special projects for the Mental Health Service Line to assist with improving patient care, experience, and efficiency. Works regularly with a wide range of professional and non-professional staff, both within the Medical Center and in the community. Performs other necessary duties as assigned. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
