Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description The primary role of a Controls Engineer is to initiate control system design based on written sequences of operation. This position involves designing complex piping and wiring diagrams and providing technical support across various control systems projects. Responsibilities + Engineer and design pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic piping diagrams. + Design electrical control panels and programmable logic controller (PLC) software. + Design programmable human-machine interface (HMI) software. + Debug and provide start-up support for control systems. + Provide technical support for the installation of tools and equipment. + Offer technical support for training plant personnel. + Travel to plant sites as required. Essential Skills + Proficiency in programmable machine controls hardware and software. + Experience with Servo drive hardware and software. + Proficiency with AutoCAD. + Familiarity with basic electrical and safety standards. + Ability to supervise. + PLC Programming Experience (Allen-Bradley 5000 or Studio 5000). + HMI Programming Experience (Preferred Rockwell FactoryTalk View). + Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics and machine control circuits. + Minimum of 3 yearsu2019 experience troubleshooting controls-related automation equipment breakdowns. + Basic Fanuc Robotics Experience. + Problem-solving and analytical skills in a high-volume manufacturing environment. + Strong understanding of Ethernet/IP industrial networks. + Prior automotive or industrial automation experience preferred. + Understanding and programming of servo drives, motion control, and VFDs. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Leadership in planning, scheduling, and coordinating work with trades and contractors. + Ability to work flexible hours or rotate shifts as required. + Basic Automation Controls Vision systems programming experience (Preferred Matrox). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with machine controls, robotics, test systems, PLC, instrumentation, and vision systems. + Support experience in manufacturing environments. + Experience with Rockwell, Siemens PLC, Fanuc, and other automation technologies. Work Environment The work environment involves daily team meetings, smaller team carry-over meetings, and brief stand-up meetings to discuss top priority items and production needs. The team consists of approximately 12 people, with interactions across production, quality, and maintenance departments. There is a chance for extension and possibility of conversion to a direct position. Flexibility in working hours and shift rotations may be required to align with plant operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
