Tool Crib Lead Milwaukee, WI Job Type Full-time Description The Backbone of Precision, Performance, and Safety The Tool Crib Lead is the operational anchor of our tooling function, ensuring the right tools are available, maintained, and deployed exactly when and where they are needed. This role has full ownership of receiving, organizing, issuing, tracking, and optimizing hand tools, machine tools, perishables, materials, and specialty equipment that enable our shop floor and field teams to perform at their best. This is more than an inventory roleu2014it is a position of leadership and influence. The Tool Crib Lead mentors team members, improves workflows, implements preventive maintenance strategies, and partners cross-functionally to support production schedules and project execution. Requirements Tool and Inventory Leadership u00b7 Receive, store, issue, and track all tooling, perishables, and equipment within the tool crib u00b7 Maintain accurate manual and electronic records for issued and returned tools u00b7 Utilize and support computerized inventory management systems u00b7 Forecast tooling and material requirements based on production schedules and project timelines u00b7 Lead inventory optimization and cost-reduction efforts while ensuring uninterrupted tool availability Technical Expertise u00b7 Serve as the subject-matter expert for specialty tools, including correct use, care, and handling Leadership and Collaboration u00b7 Train, mentor, and guide team members on proper tool selection, usage, maintenance, and storage u00b7 Partner with supervisors and project leaders to align tool crib operations with production and project priorities u00b7 Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, tooling upgrades, and equipment replacement Operations and Logistics u00b7 Load and unload trucks manually or using forklifts and overhead cranes u00b7 Manage shipping and receiving activities with UPS, FedEx, and other carriers u00b7 Submit replenishment requisitions to Purchasing u00b7 Complete all documentation accurately and on schedule Safety and Workplace Standards u00b7 Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tool crib and work environment u00b7 Proactively enforce safety policies and proper handling procedures u00b7 Support and track preventive maintenance schedules for tools and equipment Education u00b7 High school diploma or GED required Experience and Technical Skills u00b7 3u20135 years of experience in tooling, machining, required. or inventory management u00b7 3u20135 years of experience inventory management u00b7 Strong working knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tools u00b7 Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings u00b7 Proficiency in dimensional measurement and inspection methods u00b7 Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word u00b7 Machining experience strongly preferred Communication and Reasoning u00b7 Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, procedures, and production schedules u00b7 Ability to write routine correspondence and maintain clear documentation u00b7 Effective communication with internal teams, vendors, and customers u00b7 Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills u00b7 Ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment Mathematical Skills u00b7 Ability to work with fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and tolerances u00b7 Ability to apply mathematical concepts to real-world shop and field applications Physical Demands While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to: u00b7 Stand and walk for extended periods u00b7 Use hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, and controls u00b7 Climb ladders and stairs u00b7 Bend, kneel, crouch, and stoop u00b7 Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds u00b7 Maintain close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Work Environment Work is primarily performed indoors in a shop and office setting with exposure to forklifts, overhead cranes, machining operations, welding activities, moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels. Occasional outdoor work may be required in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions.
