Behavior Technician u2013 OLV Human Services OMH Program - Residential Treatment Facility (RTF): Our Residential Treatment Facility u2013 located in Lackawanna - has the most current features and technology for resident safety, complementing the special care provided by our dedicated and experienced staff. We take a person-centered approach to serving those with interpersonal, emotional, psychiatric, social, family or educational issues. We create a tailored plan of treatment based on specific goals of the resident. While the RTF is on the cutting edge for resident safety and well-being, it is also designed to be home-like in a therapeutic environment. Note, the term u201chome-likeu201d, not u201clike homeu201d. Thatu2019s because our goal with every resident is to help them get back to their own homes, care-givers and communities as soon as possible. Responsibilities include conducting observations within the residential milieu, collecting behavioral data, assisting with staff training and coaching, supporting the implementation of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), and monitoring treatment integrity. The BST may also participate in special projects, including administrative tasks related to behavior programming and residential operations. Essential Job Duties The Behavior Technician must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position: + Provide behavioral support and consultation to residential teams. + Assist in crisis prevention and intervention, including de-escalation and support for individuals experiencing behavioral or emotional distress. + Collect, organize, and maintain accurate behavioral data, including ABC observations, frequency counts, and progress monitoring. + Support the training and coaching of residential staff on bestu2011practice behavior strategies, proactive supports, and proper implementation of BSPs. + Assist with the development and completion of reports, summaries, and documentation required for treatment planning and regulatory compliance. + Maintain adherence to agency policies and ethical guidelines, including those related to safety, confidentiality, trauma-informed care, and behavioral best practices. + Participate in team meetings, treatment planning sessions, and case reviews as required. + Promote a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment aligned with traumau2011informed and personu2011centered care. Skills + Competency with technology and electronic documentation systems + Strong computer skills + Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel Competencies + Communication (oral and written): Able to communicate clearly with staff, clinicians, and youth + Dependability: Reliable, responsible, and able to follow through on commitments + Problem Solving: Uses a structured and analytical approach to identifying and addressing problems + Attention to Detail: Thorough and precise when documenting, collecting data, or following protocols + Adaptability: Flexible and able to adjust to dynamic and sometimes unpredictable residential environments + Teamwork: Works cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams Education Minimum: High School Diploma Preferred: Associateu2019s Degree or higher in Human Services, Psychology, Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field Experience + Minimum of 1u20132 years of experience implementing or supporting behavior plans for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, or behavioral challenges. + Previous experience using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. + Must demonstrate fundamental knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavior Analysis. Required License/Certification + Valid NYS Driveru2019s License + Certification in crisis intervention (e.g., TCI or an agencyu2011approved equivalent) within 3 months from start date Training + New Hire Orientation + Crisis intervention training (as required by the residential program) + Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care, ABA, and youth behavioral support Physical Requirements + While much of the work involves observation and documentation, a residential environment requires the ability to respond to active situations: + Frequent: Standing, walking within the facility, engaging with residents, talking, hearing, observing, and completing repetitive motions + Occasional: Supporting physical interventions (as trained and permitted), lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, and assisting during crisis intervention + Environmental Conditions: Exposure to a dynamic residential setting with potential for behavioral outbursts, noise, and emotionally charged situations Job Details Job Function Essential Pay Type Hourly Employment Indicator Full Time Hiring Min Rate 20 USD Hiring Max Rate 30 USD
