Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a finance team in Massachusetts in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This role supports core accounting operations, helps keep financial records accurate and timely, and contributes to reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise, a solid background in month-end close, and the ability to work across multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Oversee sales and use tax reporting activities, ensuring filings are prepared accurately and submitted on schedule. u2022 Prepare recurring cash position and disbursement summaries to support visibility into weekly liquidity needs. u2022 Complete monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain reliable financial records. u2022 Support fixed asset accounting by tracking asset activity, reviewing depreciation schedules, and coordinating the lifecycle of capital projects. u2022 Record and monitor journal entries related to accruals, prepayments, reserves, and allowances to keep ledger balances accurate. u2022 Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, reconcile variances, and maintain documentation that supports reported amounts. u2022 Coordinate month-end close tasks and assist in preparing financial reports and related variance analysis for leadership review. u2022 Partner with finance leadership to develop and distribute budget-versus-actual reporting for department managers. u2022 Assist with audit preparation, corporate reporting submissions, and updates to accounting procedures, including training users on revised workflows when needed. Requirements u2022 Strong experience with month-end close processes in a senior-level accounting role. u2022 Proven knowledge of general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliation. u2022 Hands-on experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving account variances. u2022 Familiarity with budgeting support, financial reporting, and variance analysis. u2022 Understanding of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and capital project tracking. u2022 Experience supporting external and internal audit requests with accurate documentation. u2022 Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate with finance and corporate stakeholders.
