This unique approach allows members of our campus community to share a rhythm of experience as we work together to fulfill our mission.Job SummaryAssist with facility operations of the Adam F. Press Fitness Center over the 2026 summer months. The Fitness Center Monitor is responsible for the supervision of the fitness facilities and its patrons. The Fitness Center Monitor is also responsible for opening, closing, and securing the facilities as well as the appropriate use and cleanliness of all equipment with an expectation to uphold the highest standards in cleaning and disinfecting. Additionally, all campus recreation employees are required to provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe and enjoyable, service-oriented environment for participants at all times.Responsibilitiesu2022 Monitor access and activity in the Adam F Press Fitness Center.u2022 Ensure the environment is safe for facility users by routinely circulating and proactively monitoring safety concerns.u2022 Understand, and enforce policies and procedures of department and college in a firm, fair, and consistent manner.u2022 Provide excellent customer service by being enthusiastic, personable, and comfortable engaging with participants.u2022 Develop working knowledge of Campus Recreation Programs and the Fitness Center to answer questions and be able to direct comments and questions to the appropriate staff members.u2022 Answer phone calls and verbally communicate with callers to provide center and programmatic information.u2022 Develop and maintain knowledge of Fitness Center emergency procedures and be confident in their implementation.u2022 Recognize and promptly respond to emergency situations.u2022 Report and record incidents or injury in accordance with department policy.u2022 Maintain a high degree of cleanliness of the facility and its equipment in accordance with department standards.u2022 Ability to lift up to a45lb without assistance.u2022 Anticipate schedule demands and manage time effectively.u2022 Availability to work weekdays, between the hours of 11:00am and 7:00pm.u2022 Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.u2022 Assist with special projects as needed.Minimum Qualificationsu2022 First Aid, CPR, and AED Certified or ability to obtain certification within one month of first day of employment.Preferred QualificationsApplicants are welcome to apply even if you do not meet the preferred qualifications.
