OverviewCompensation: $53,000 - $78,000 based on experience and credentialsSchedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Occasional Saturday hours required(flexible hybrid)The Mortgage Loan Consultant serves as a member advocate for mortgage loan applicants originating through various channels. This individual maintains effective communication with members and other stakeholder parties to ensure timely decisions occur. An ideal candidate takes ownership to provide excellent member service according to Suncoast Credit Union’s mission, vision, and DNA statements. ResponsibilitiesInterview members and record accurate information about the applicant(s) in the mortgage and consumer loan origination systemsContact members regarding each mortgage file and in accordance with Suncoast service standards Communicate with members to ensure the accuracy and integrity of submitted dataAnalyze details and gather additional information necessary to ensure timely loan decisionsEnsure members’ understanding by answering questions, explaining preliminary documents and the next steps Review and analyze all documentation to determine acceptability based on the portfolio or investor underwriting guidelinesUpload all documents to origination or Suncoast imaging systemSubmit accurate applications with required supporting documentation to the underwriter Recommend approval or denial decisions to the underwriter Notify members of loan decisions by phone, electronic notification, or by mailPrepare and mail approval or denial letters Prepare and mail Regulation B letters advising members of additional information needed Complete the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act for government monitoring information and record accurate data in origination systems for reporting purposesProduce updated Loan Estimates based on qualified change of circumstancesExplain the content of the consumer mortgages preliminary disclosures, such as the term of the loan, rate, APR, closing costs, payment options, credit union paid closing costs, variable rate plans, and documentation requirementsObtain the borrower’s Intent to Proceed before moving the file to processingUtilize daily reports from the origination system to maintain the current status of assigned files Maintain compliance with internal departmental policy and procedures regarding productivity and response timeAssist with reviewing tax returns and income verificationsCross-sell Suncoast Credit Union products and services when applicableMaintain knowledge and understanding of current mortgage products, regulatory compliance, and investor guidelinesAttend educational events to increase professional knowledge QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a business-related field, CCUE or PCUE designation preferred (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements)4+ years of mortgage lending experience with a financial institution Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet required deadlinesAccurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management Good knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities such as TRID, HMDA, ECOA, FNMA, and PMIAbility to analyze and resolve complex problemsStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulatorsAbility to communicate policies, practices, and procedures Ability to maintain a high level of confidentialitySafe Act StatementThis position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). The employee will obtain a unique identifier from the registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities.
