As a part of the Design Tools team you will work with other designs and engineers to craft high-quality Figma libraries, plugins, and other solution which enable designers and engineers to make effective use of our design system. As a lead, your responsibility will extend beyond creating tools, but also creating an ecosystem and processes for those tools to function, scaling the impact of the design system and the employees who utilize the system.Our team builds and maintains the design system that covers all web, mobile, and branch customer experiences for JP Morgan Chase. You'll work across teams to deliver the best components, patterns, and design system products that will be used by our organization of over 800 designers and 3000 engineers. This is a hand-on role with real impact, as your work will be used to serve experiences of over 70 million customers and how they manage their financial lives. As a design lead, you'll contribute beyond just the work, giving insight, critique, and mentorship in our design system team and beyond.The space isn't cut and dry, and often requires really listening to our customers' needs, and planning a multi-faceted strategy to meet them. This is a role for someone looking for new and fresh ways to solve problems for our organization, and someone capable of iterating and adapting solutions as we test and try solutions alongside our customers.Job Responsibilities Build and maintain high-quality Figma libraries making use of the latest features Be a leader in the definition and curation of shared design and experiences across all our digital products Partner with designers, engineers, and product owners to apply and evolve our design system Communicate expectations within the design team for standards of quality through creative direction and critique Work collaboratively and contribute to the success of a multidisciplinary team Create strategic design deliverables such as strategy decks, customer journeys, visions of future experiences and evangelize these cross-product 'blueprints' across teams Advance Chase's practice in craft capabilities, internally through mentorship and training, externally through writing and conference presentations Research and look for opportunities to solve problems in unusual and innovative waysRequired Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills Bachelor's Degree in relevant design discipline (e.g., Interaction Design, HCI, User Experience Design), certification from credible boot camp or similar accelerated learning program, or equivalent work experience 7+ years of experience leading a program of work through full product development cycles in discovery, concepting, prototypes, specifications, and enablement Demonstrated expert-level Figma skills and mastery of its features Experience creating and organizing Figma libraries Thorough knowledge of design systems Can direct self and others in both planning and structuring the work, and executing on expected levels of quality Prior work involves leading design teams (with other Designers, UX Researchers, and Content Designers) and cross-functional collaboration with senior Product Managers and Engineering leads Expertise in Interaction Design, and strength in Visual/UI Design or Information Architecture; Intermediate proficiency in adjacent skills such as User Research, UX Writing, Prototyping, and Service Design Strong facilitation skills and experience employing a variety of methods and techniques to run complex design-led workshops Has driven new business thinking and strategy through their user-centered design workPreferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills Advocate for Accessibility Guidelines and Inclusive Design practices Comfortable with structuring and planning design work in cross-functional contexts Able to show how their understanding of technical constraints and opportunities informed design solutions; Familiar with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, frameworks such as React, and mobile UI standards
