Responsibilities will include conducting molecular and cellular biology experiments for an exciting translational project exploring expression and function of proteins in the brain in Alzheimer's disease (AD). This bench-to-bedside research is supported by an award from the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and has applications in understanding and treating AD. In this role, the successful candidate under supervision performs experiments and other day-to-day laboratory tasks. Orders supplies, and maintains the laboratory notebook. Prepares data presentation and analysis as well as laboratory cleaning and organization. Assists with manuscripts and grant applications submissions.Job Responsibilities:Prepares buffers and related materials for the other members in the lab.Performs basic scientific data analysis derived from experimental studies. Compiles data, graphs, figures and reports. Maintains clear, accurate and detailed records.Maintains reagents and consubable stock. Orders supplies, maintains laboratory instruments and laboratory stockProvides technical assistance to designated employees and students. Interacts in a team-oriented manner with laboratory personnel and with the P.I (Principal Investigator).Assists in the preparation of research papers for publication. Maintains clear, accurate detailed records of results. Compiles and analyzes research data. Prioritizes assignments based on project requirements.Performs experimental studies with various animal species.Performs other duties as assignedUnder supervision, performs chemical, biological, immunologic, and microscopic assays.Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Immunology. Molecular Biology laboratory proficiency is required for this position.General basic research experience with DNA, RNA, protein analysis, tissue culture, immunohistochemistry and histology are required. Knowledge of central nervous system structure and function valuable. Strong communication, organizational, record keeping and computer literacy skills are essential. Ability to work in team-efforts and independently is necessary.Working knowledge of lab instruments (spectrometer, microscopes, centrifuges, autoclaves, etc. ) and supplies. Familiarity with equipment such as spectrometers, microscopes, centrifuges, autoclaves, etc.Strong communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, interpersonal, multitasking skills.Preferred Qualifications:Master's Degree Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry. 1 - 2 years Hands-on research experience. 1 - 2 years Experience with various molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques; scientific calculations, scientific graphing, and scientific data log,.
