Upward Farms designs and operates complete ecosystems of plants and fish in vertical farms, supplying these organic products to local grocers. In 2021, we opened a new company Headquarters and cutting-edge, fully automated production facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. In 2022, we announced that we are constructing the world''s largest vertical farm, a 250,000 sqft facility in Northeast Pennsylvania, opening in 2023. More and larger farms are in the works. Our mission is to heal the broken food system and reconnect eaters with flavorful and nutritious local food. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Employee Engagement and work as a member of the People Operations Team curating and executing key People Operations projects across the organization.SuccessYour objective is to innovatively execute projects to streamline the People Operations function. Success in this role will mean bringing a deep experience around market research and working with outside partners to execute on key projects including but not limited to HRIS and ATS implementation. This individual will have the ability to transform ambiguity into clarity and will use their experience and skills to shape a fast growing organization through the technical digitization of our current people operations processes. A successful candidate will thrive in an ever changing environment and work cross-functionally to drive people operations projects to completion with focus and purpose. Tremendous room for growth exists at our company.Responsibilities Identifies opportunities for People Operations policy, process and system improvements across Upward Farms, with a view to achieving standardization, harmonization, and optimization. Designs and implements people operations systems, structures, and processes that support our company''s growth (E.g. the selection and rollout of new HRIS and ATS systems) Drives projects based on defined priorities, ensuring that deliverables, timelines and other requirements are met. Owns decisions around management of project activities. Works closely with Payroll and other cross-functional partners to gather requirements, establish scope, define timelines, and identify deliverables for people operations projects. Utilizes a range of project management tools, methodologies, and techniques to deliver complex initiatives. Leverages the latest digital project management tools and technologies to support development of scalable, industry-leading people operations solutions. Coaches Upward Farms colleagues on effective project management and empowers project partners to perform their best work Establishes and works within project budgets, seeking approvals when necessary. Owns end-to-end and day-to-day management of projects including issue management, change management, task tracking, documentation and reporting. Ensures that project plans are adhered to or modified to reflect changes in approach. Works autonomously on large and small scale projects that have a direct impact on colleagues and the success of Upward Farms. Researches and maintains awareness of current trends in People Operations technology and data analytics to promote innovative solutions and proactive approaches to anticipated People Operations future needs and drive increased levels of employee self-service management. Requirements 5+ years of experience in a people operations project management role at a high-growth and rapidly changing and technology-focussed organization. Experience building and utilizing HRIS systems and software. Deep understanding of project management tools, methodologies and techniques. Experience using waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches to project management. Highly proficient in all aspects of document management from project plans to meeting agendas and requests for proposals (RFPs). Excellent collaborator, comfortable standing alone, track record of delivering on timelines and implementing large people ops projects. Enjoys a fast-paced environment and the challenge of working through multiple priorities at once in a rapidly growing organization. Self-determined and strong work ethic Goal oriented and question-driven, curious and open minded. Solution focused and driver of results. Competency in project budgeting and basic accounting A commitment to growing sustainable, healthy food. Preferred Skills + Experience Experience designing and implementing a new HRIS system for an organization. Passion around People Operations. Mastery of project management platforms (e.g. Wrike) and fluency with modern workplace technology, including Slack, Zoom, G-suite, etc. Experience with Technical Writing. Great facilitation and presentation skills. Feels passionately about sustainability.
