Job Description: + Oversee 4 managers, providing guidance, mentorship and coaching for leadership development + Collaborate with other functions including but not limited to material management, engineering, quality, and program management teams to ensure purchasing needs are met for each commodity. + Resolve purchasing related problems and make recommendations autonomously + Business Unit point of contact for all procurement related activities + Drive actions towards meeting department objectives and submit performance reports to management. + Establish/manage collaborative relationships with key department suppliers and develop strategic supplier relationships. + Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. + Identify and implement process improvements. + Leads and directs experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or associate managers and reviews the work of direct reports assignments. + Has hiring, promotion and compensation authority within own organization, in accordance with management review and approval. + Implement strong employee engagement and employee morale initiatives + Knowledge of government contracting. + Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), ability to manage various responsibilities and people. Essential Functions: + Provide mentoring and supervision to experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or managers. + Review purchase order packages above procurement managers signature authority. + Write and hold mid-year and year-end performance reviews and conduct career development discussions. + Champion organizational objectives and provide guidance to staff members. + Responsible for disseminating procurement metrics to the BU Supply Chain Directors and Programs. + Manages a team with focus on policy and strategy implementation + Responsible for Managing the implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short- to mid-term function or business area results. + Experience leading buyers within the Aerospace & Defense Industry. Qualifications: + BS/BA Degree with minimum 12 years related experience, or a Graduate Degree with minimum 10 years related experience. + Experience in procurement, supply chain, and material management processes. Preferred Additional Skills: + Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. + Experience is executing contracts according to FAR, DFAR and public law requirements + Utilizes Lean Six Sigma processes and tools + Negotiation and follow up skills required. + PC skills in MS office, with Word and Excel formats essential. + Knowledge in Control (MRP) and PeopleSoft financials a plus.
