The Innovation Banking Business and Control Officer works within the Wholesale NFR team. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing the end to end management of operational risk of the innovation banking team. The role holder will lead in the integration and assessment of innovation bank products and risk into the NFR framework, providing co-ordination and expertise support to control owners and risk owners. The role holder will work closely with Innovation Bank to ensure maintenance of an effective operational risk and control environment and provide inputs for proactive identification of Top & Emerging risks. The role holder should also ensure adherences to the Incident Management and event escalation processes, ensuring timely reporting and follow up actions are agreed and completed. The Innovation Banking Business and Control Officer is responsible for driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risk for this segment. The role holder will work closely with Innovation Banking colleagues, Commercial Banking, the Control Office and Operational Risk colleagues. Here's what you can expect: This role will include: Developing key relationships with Innovation Banking, both locally and globally Ensuring a clear understanding of material Operational risk and control issues across Wholesale, with a strong focus on Innovation Banking and the innovation economy Close collaboration with Innovation Banking business partners to ensure appropriate control and testing design Providing support and advice on compliance and operational risk matters and represent Innovation Banking as point of contact for Product Due Diligence, as required. Identify and share best practices with business, function and stakeholder, and heighten control standards. Review and facilitate read across of issues/ events from other business lines or functions Effective use of Ops Risk tools (including Risk and Control Assessment (RCA), Helios), Key Indicators and Dashboard, and Audit Database to mitigate risks. Ensure effectiveness of Operational Risk frameworks throughout the region via robust Risk Control Assessments, operational processes and internal controls. Ensure effective management and responsibility for application and scoping of global generic Risk and Control Assessment (RCA). Complete other responsibilities, as assigned. For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $129,800 and $194,700. The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location. In-depth knowledge of the technology, life science and healthcare economies, including products, processes, systems, controls and how risks materialize in these sectors Preferably gained through experience in first line for at least 5 years. Experience working with customer needs in the innovation economy. Understanding of the Group's Non-financial risk Framework and its applications. Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment especially in the financial services sector. Proven problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions. Highly developed communication, presentation and influencing skills set. Ability to prioritise and work independently under pressure within a team environment. Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve complex problems whilst adhering to timelines and quality of output. Knowledge in Information Security, Cyber Risk and Third Party Risk Management risks. Exposure to an operations and a control environment, such as operational risk, audit, or compliance. Sound knowledge of banking regulations, operations, audit and control concepts.
