Primary DetailsTime Type: Full timeWorker Type: EmployeeThe OpportunityAs a Reverse Flow P & C Underwriter, you will join a dynamic, fast-paced, growing team responsible for underwriting the US portion of International Programs originated from QBE overseas office as part of a Controlled Master Program (CMP). You will work directly with overseas Underwriters, Brokers, and other internal stakeholders to place the US risk. Responsibilities include underwriting Primary General Liability, Excess/Umbrella Liability and Property accounts, new business and renewals.Primary Responsibilities Underwrite profitable new and renewal Reserve Flow business, Primary General Liability, Excess/Umbrella Liability and Property accounts by applying sound underwriting judgment and adhering to company policy and state regulations within established authority.Collaborate with Producing Underwriters to negotiate rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business accounts to grow and retain the overall profitability of an assigned book of ply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business, managing production and issue of contract documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, and ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives.Overall account management, inclusive but not limited to handling endorsements and special projects for product development and/or process improvement, moving forward the Multinational Proposition.Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiencyEstablish and maintain relationships with producers and customers to understand their needs and handle effectively.Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating cultural expectations and influencing others to reward performance and value 'can do' people, accountability, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement, collaboration, creativity and funRequired Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experienceRequired Experience 3 years relevant Underwriting experience with a fundamental understanding of ISO CGL, Umbrella, and Property rate, rule, and form.Preferred Competencies/Skills Use multiple resources to gather and analyze information and use logic to underwrite complex risksUse wise, astute and insightful judgment and individual credibility to make autonomous, sound underwriting decisionsPrioritize interests of the company and community during decision-makingEffectively and efficiently present logic, reasoning, and analysis to managersNegotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups to settle differences with minimum noiseWin concessions without damaging relationshipsRecommend improvement opportunities and translate them into tangible business deliverablesEfficiently and appropriately prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure timely goal achievementAbility to analyze data and use for decision makingClearly and confidently convey information to a wide audienceShow drive and initiativeAbility to work in fast-paced environment with a high attention to detailAct fairly, ethically and with integrity when decision-makingMaintain confidentiality of private or sensitive informationMulti-task and handle competing priorities; adapt and be flexible in a complex changing environmentKeep an open mind, consider unique approaches and be open to change and considerable variety in the workplaceProfessional, polished, poised and positive demeanorPreferred Education Specifics Degree in Business, insurance, or related fieldPreferred Experience P&C experiencePreferred Licenses/Certifications Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU); Certificate of General Insurance (INS); Associate in Insurance Production (AIP)Preferred Knowledge Working knowledge of Middle Market underwriting lines products and insurance conceptsWorking knowledge of Multinational Reverse Flow, Controlled Master Programs (CMP)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge of underwriting processes and proceduresWorking knowledge of laws and regulations related to area of responsibilityKnowledge of risk profiling, pricing tools and loss modelsAbout QBEWe can never really predict what's around the corner, but at QBE we're asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future by helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage.We're an international insurer that's building momentum towards realizing our vision of becoming the most consistent and innovative risk partner.And our people will be at the center of our success.
