Job Description Job Description The Alliance for Downtown New York manages Lower Manhattan's Business Improvement District, serving an area roughly from City Hall to the Battery, from the East River to West Street. We provide a host of services, including supplemental sanitation and security, economic development, streetscape and transportation improvements, marketing, and enhanced tourist services. The mission of the Alliance for Downtown New York is to provide service, advocacy, research and information to advance Lower Manhattan as a global model of a 21st-century Central Business District for businesses, residents, and visitors.Position DescriptionThe Alliance for Downtown New York seeks applicants for the part-time position of Tourist Greeter in the Operations Department. This position is for approximately 16 to 24 hours per week, with working hours of 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, throughout 2 to 3 days per week including holidays. Reporting to the Director of Information Services, the Tourist Greeter will assist and serve as a resource of information to our many visitors. This position is ideal for an outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.ResponsibilitiesThe job consists of working at an active all-year-round information center (OUTDOOR KIOSK). This will require standing and being out in the elements (RAIN, SNOW, COLD, AND HEAT), responding to inquiries, and providing directions to the general public regarding points of interest, retail stores, museums, and events. Provide customers with information collateral such as guides, maps, and brochures.Some lifting required, must be able to lift 20 pounds.Must put Kiosk collateral together for distribution.Must keep a record of daily tourist contacts. QualificationsThe ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the Downtown NYC Financial District area. Candidates should be outgoing, possess excellent communication skills, and enjoy assisting people.Must be willing to commit to working 16 to 24 hours per week over 2 to 3 days per week including holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day) and or weekends. Must have a cell phone available at all times.Must wear the company-provided uniform with the Downtown Alliance logo. Requirements Candidates must be vaccinated from COVID-19 and show proof of vaccination before hire. Candidates must agree to a background check. This position is eligible for overtime under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Employees accrue sick leave at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours of sick leave per calendar year.
