Description: Job Title: Specialist, Flight Test EngineeringJob Code: SAS20231505-100816Job Location: Ashburn, VAJob Description: As a Flight Test Engineer you willplan and support test events, demonstration events and customer operations. This position requires a diverse skillset, tasks will typically include providing subject matter expertise, writing test plans, test preparation/planning, event coordination, troubleshooting, customer interface, and event management. In addition, you will be involved with FVR-90 flight operations as an Air Vehicle Operator (AVO), Sensor Operator (SO) and Crew Chief (CC).The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is a part of L3Harris' Agile Development Group and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.Essential Functions: Support numerous test events which include but are not limited to flight test, environmental qualification and stress screening and software-in-the-loop testing. Assist the technical writing team to create and update documentation related to technical manuals and processes Interface with many customer groups across several programs Maintain professional relationships with internal and external groups by working to achieve operational targets as well as departmental goals Develop detailed flight test plans and reportsSupport hands on field engineering effortsCoordinate, support and lead test eventsRecommend software and hardware modifications for future improvementHelp develop and update technical manuals as a subject matter expertAbility to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as requiredAbility to lift up to 50 lbsUp to 50% travel may be requiredOther duties as requiredQualifications:Active Secret DoD clearance with current 5 year updateAssociates degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math and 6 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.Flight Test experience on all aspects of the systems including operation, technical details, mission planning and execution and operating simulators. Experience using Microsoft Office productsPreferred Additional Skills:Bachelors or Masters degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math or related field and/or equivalent experience desired Some mechanical background with experience using basic toolsPrivate Pilot License / FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot CertificateExperience with Group 2 or 3 UAVsFAA Class III Medical CertificateOperate under general oversight, with excellent customer interaction skills.
