Job Description Mission Statement Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. We all share a responsibility to advance the company''s mission by excelling at our three corporate priorities - safety of our people and the public, operational excellence in all that we do, and ensuring the best possible customer experience.Core Responsibilities The Engineer will be responsible for developing capital and expense construction packages for area and transmission switching substations utilizing both outside service and in-house design teams resources. The engineer will provide leadership, technical expertise, direction and supervision of resources, ensures all operations meet schedule, budget, project goals, specifications, and regulatory guidelines. Develop and process request for proposals (RFP) for outside services. Monitor coordinate deliverable package schedule milestones with outside vendor. Coordinate pre and post bid field walks. Review, guide, direct and monitor the progress of awarded outside contracts. Track and process milestone payments. Supervise/direct in-house design team in the development, review, and approval of capital and expense, engineering design construction packages. Ensure design packages comply with company standards and specifications, industry and regulatory codes, standards, practices and procedures. Schedule and support department and CENG key performance indicator initiatives. Thorough understanding and application of Central Engineering''s - Engineering Operations Manual and administrative functions associated with project coordination. Develop work plans, schedules, and priorities for design personnel to meet project due dates. Communicate and coordinate deliverables with customers. Oversee training and professional development of design personnel. Monitor the performance of design personnel and prepare performance evaluations and reviews to evaluate adherence to department and company goals, standards, procedures. Provide supervision and guidance to design personnel in carrying out their assigned functions. Provide direction and participate in the resolution of union matters. Effectively interact with various levels of management. Prepares, reviews and revises specifications as required, i.e., Design Instructions. Coordinate and conduct field walks as required. Working knowledge of drafting standards and construction documentation. Working knowledge of computer aided design and software i.e., AutoCAD, Document management system, Wire and Raceway System, etc.Required Education/Experience Bachelor''s Degree in Electrical engineering And 2 years of full time work experience to include one year of applicable engineering work experience in design drafting/computer aided design, electrical systems design or utility related electrical equipment application. - ASSOCIATE ENGINEER A (1H) OrBachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering And 3 years of applicable engineering work experience in design drafting/computer aided design, electrical systems design or utility related electrical equipment application.- ENGINEER (2L) OrBachelor''s Degree in Electrical Engineering And 8 years of applicable engineering work experience in design drafting/computer aided design, electrical systems design or utility related electrical equipment application. - SENIOR ENGINEER (2H) OrMaster''s Degree with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering And 6 years of applicable engineering work experience in design drafting/computer aided design, electrical systems design or utility related electrical equipment application. - SENIOR ENGINEER (2H)Required Work Experience REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:Requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.Associate Engineer A (1H): Requires a minimum of 2 years full time work experience, to include 1 year applicable engineering experience. Engineer (2L): Requires 3 years applicable engineering work experience. Senior Engineer (2H): Requires 8 years applicable engineering work experience, or 6 years applicable engineering experience with a Masters degree.Requires computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Requires strong written and verbal communication skills.Requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with personnel on all levels. Required PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Previous supervisory experience of professional and union employees.Requires knowledge reading schematic diagrams and control schemes or blueprints in the operation and design of electrical and electronic devices and equipment.Familiarity with local, national, and industry codes and standards. Requires working knowledge of drafting standards and construction documentation.Required working knowledge of computer aided design and software i.e., AutoCAD, Document management system, Wire and Raceway System, etc. PrefLicenses & Certifications Driver''s License RequiredOther Physical Demands Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.Must be willing and able to travel throughout the Company service territory.Must be willing and able to wear the required PPE as needed.Must be willing and able to work overtime and extended hours, as well as on weekends/holidays as needed, or as system conditions dictate.Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions.Must be willing and able to work in substations in the vicinity of high voltage equipment, near and within buildings and yard areas.Must be willing and able wot work in and around live electricity.Must be willing and able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces, on roofs, around noise, high heat, and on elevations, Must be able to detect traffic sounds, alarms and backup warning devices when working near traffic, around moving equipment and within substations and buildings.Technical Difficulty Statement For technical issues, please contact us at [email protected]Equal Opportunity Employer Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc.
