Job Description Job DescriptionAssistant Engineer - Montgomery County Join Kay Apartment Communities' engineering team at our Montgomery County apartment portfolio. Kay's engineering department is responsible for maintaining the mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems of our properties and is committed to providing exceptional customer service and a comfortable living experience for our residents.The Assistant Engineer reports to the Regional Engineering Supervisor and is supported by the building engineering staff. This is a roving position throughout our Montgomery County communities. Responsibilities Provide exceptional customer service and effectively communicate with residents, guests, visitors and staff within company policies and Fair Housing laws.Assist building engineers with overseeing service performed by contractors on the mechanical, electrical & plumbing systems.Under the supervision of building engineers perform daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections of building systems and central plant equipment as defined in our preventative maintenance program.Assist in performing diagnostics, repairs, replacements and installations of items such as:o Chillerso Boilers (Hot Water & Steam)o Pumpso Cooling Towerso Heat Exchangerso Air Compressorso Controlso Control Valveso Motor Starterso VFDso Domestic Water Distribution Pipingo Hot/Chilled Water Distribution Pipingo Exhaust/Supply Fanso Fan Coil Unitso Split System AC/Heat Pump UnitsEnsure that service and repair requests are completed in a safe, prompt and professional mannerAssist community manager in scheduling system outages for repairs, contracted services and major improvement projectsAssist building engineers with maintaining routine & critical parts inventory.Ensure all company-owned tools & equipment is in good working condition.Support technicians with maintenance emergencies (24/7).Assist and provide Service Technicians with technical support.Perform other duties as assignedRequirementsEntry level position for central plant operations with some experience in plumbing and electrical systemsEMS/BAS experience preferredAbility to work with a team as well as work independently and professionallyExcellent organizational, communication and customer service skillsAdhere all to safe work practicesBasic computer skillsAble to work on-call and when needed, extended hours (including after hours and weekends)Maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportationMust have own hand toolsBilingual in English and Spanish a plusOur exceptional benefits packageMedical & dental insurancePaid holidaysVacation/sick leave401(K) retirement savings planLife insuranceOvertime payAnnual bonusesRent discountTrainingPre-employment requirementsCriminal background check Kay Apartment Communities is an Equal Opportunity Employer Company DescriptionKay Apartment Communities has been a locally-recognized multifamily owner and manager in the Washington Metropolitan area for over 50 years.
