Job Description: L3Harris is looking for a General Maintenance Helper responsible for performing all duties related to hazardous materials handling, including accepting, organizing, delivering, and properly disposing of hazardous materials/chemicals commonly used in laboratory applications under minimum supervision at the Clifton, New Jersey facility. This role also includes responsibility to understand, organize, receive, and delivery various tradesmen materials, supplies, equipment, and tools as well as to create and maintain a program to monitor supply levels of all such items above and reorder upon near-depletion. Essential Functions: + Receive, deliver, pick up, document and label, segregate, bail, and properly dispose of/recycle, as required, chemical products/wastes and other material, such as various metals, wood, paper, and cardboard, throughout plant and transport to central location for removal from plant. + Must attend hazardous waste management training classes. Coordinate chemical procedures and documentation with EHS department. + Operate and use a variety of hand and power hand tools, and all necessary manual, electrical, and mechanical equipment in performance of duties, including driving company trucks, fork lifts, and other related equipment as directed. + Assists in administering preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities, coordinate such programs with maintenance department trades-people and supervisors. + Order, receive, organize, document, and transport material, equipment, furniture, tools, and other supplies between loading dock, outside suppliers, internal warehouse and job sites, and personnel, as directed and coordinated with tradesmen to support Plant Engineering day-to-day activities and projects. + Organize existing warehouse and chemical storage area and create and maintain a program to track inventory and monitor supply levels of all materials and reorder when necessary to keep warehouse well-stocked. Provide department with a clean, neat, and safe warehouse, free of slips, trips, falls, life-safety, and other health hazards. + Manage FM Global requirements for warehouse product spacing in relation to flue spaces and sprinkler coverage. + Maintain records related to duties as required. + Observe and comply with all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, EHS, ITT, and local building codes and safety codes and regulations. Observe proper safety practices. + Perform diverse tasks associated with general maintenance work and/or as helper to the trade workers taking direction from the skilled trades and grounds coordinator. + Perform any other assigned tasks of a non-skilled nature as directed by supervisors.. + Helper duties will include, but are not limited to, painting, spackling, ceiling tile replacement, changing of AC filters and lubrication, floor tiles/cove base repairs, changing light bulbs, exit/emergency light PM, maintenance store room/ parts runner, groundskeeper, support PM program and chemical inventory/ safety related programs as requested of Plant Engineering through EHS. + Close out service calls or preventive maintenance requests, as part of the software management system. Maintain records related to duties as required. Qualifications: + High School Diploma or equivalent. + Minimum of 5 years related industrial experience. Must be familiar with and observe all OSHA, NEC, NFPA, EHS, ITT and local building codes and safety regulations. + Ability to handle hazardous materials in a safe and professional manner. + Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the performance of duties. + Ability to operate personal and drivable man lifts, various fork lift trucks, and company vehicles. Must have a valid NJ driver’s license to operate registered company vehicles. + Must be generally familiar with the essentials of various trades and able to work from simple blueprints, but need not possess specific knowledge of the trades. + US Government Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one + Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Must be able to pass all applicable medical exams. Will be standing, walking, climbing, and lifting heavy objects a considerable amount of time.
