Job Description Job Description Position: Interim Speech and Language Supervisor Department: Speech DepartmentSupervisor(s): Director of Pupil Personnel Services FLSA Status: Exempt Position Type: 10-month + Extended School Year (213 days), Full-TimePOSITION SUMMARY: The Interim Speech and Language Department Supervisor will be responsible for leading and maintaining quality speech and language therapy services for deaf children at our school age 3-21. PRIMARY DUTIES: Meet with Speech teachers/ department on a weekly basisEstablish and review department goals In collaboration with the Scheduling Committee, will create annual schedules and student assignments for speech teachersConduct annual performance reviewsReview annual and triennial speech assessments and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Attend IEP reviews as needed Supervise and develop student internship and clinical fellowshipsCollaborate with external agencies to provide speech services including compensatory services Communicate with families regarding student progress, issues, or concernsPerform speech evaluations for initials/ incoming students as part of the multi- disciplinary teamMay need to carry a small caseload when necessaryCollaborate and consult with classroom teachersSupport the school's Strategic Planning initiatives with an emphasis on strengthening the culture. Demonstrate commitment to school purpose, vision, and mission. Performs other related duties as assigned and appropriate. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL)Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriateProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related softwareEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess CCC-SLP certification (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited programASHA membershipTSHH or TSSLD certificateKnowledge of American Sign Language (ASL)Experience working with deaf students is preferredSECURITY CLEARANCE: Required clearance includes medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, and SCR and SEL clearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift 15 pounds at times
