Chemist, Personal Care, Care Chemicals, Tarrytown, NY Where the chemistry happens We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the personal care application technology group in North America. As the regional application technology chemist for personal care formulations within the Care Creations portfolio, you will be one of the formulators and work as the interface between technology, sales and marketing. In addition, you will be responsible for the formulation and development as well as maintenance of library of formulations in the areas of hair, body care used to promote the BASF personal care portfolio and ensure that samples are readily available. In this role, you will focus on customer needs and product concepts, launch support and serve as a key resource this area. In this role, you will have the opportunity in working on product claims and substantiation, method development and clinical science to understand the benefits of the raw materials on hair and skin. As a Chemist, you create chemistry by Leading formulator for customer projects, formulation, maintenance, scale-up and modification of existing formulas in the formulation library. Together with the technical service, you will serve as a key technical contact for regional customers, working to drive new business and sales in the personal care space, specifically but not limited to hair and body care. Providing technical expertise and translate customer needs to action. Strong background in formulation, project management and communication skills, along with the ability to present will be a key responsibility of this role and needed to adhere to project scope. Being responsible for taking the lead and managing formulation development of customer projects in close cooperation with cross-functional colleagues, including technical service, sales, and marketing. Your ability to work independently with minimal supervision will be essential your success. Being able to closely interact with direct customer will help. Working in a dynamic team environment across functions including sales, marketing, technology, and product management, to identify new business opportunities and initiatives as well as implement actions as they relate to new launches as well as post-launch needs. Working to drive new business and sales in the personal care space, specifically but not limited to hair and body care. Providing solutions to meet our customer's needs. Being responsible for supporting the needs of the product performance and clinical testing team by executing clinical and instrumental testing for the personal care and bio active product development pipelines. Developing new and innovative claim support methods/protocols to support the BASF technologies. This includes developing your sensory acuity when evaluating product formulations and being able to effectively communicate recommendations based on data. If you... Have an educational background in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, and professional experience in the personal care industry. Have knowledge and understanding of finished formulations in hair and body care and the ability to create and re-create unique formulations that are trending with speed and efficiency will be essential in your success, also knowledge in the field of skin formulation and methodologies used in personal care claims and substantiation is a plus. Have a strong understanding of personal care products, market, competitors, and scientific claim generation to provide solutions to meet our customer's needs. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $63,200.00 - $79,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
