Job DescriptionThis position lies within the Data Science Optimization team. The DSO team focuses on ML platform design and product development aimed at improving the productivity and efficacy of hundreds of fellow data scientists and engineers throughout the organization. Every project is far reaching and ambitious with the potential to become a new internal standard, an OSS project, or differentiating intellectual property. This position will: Provide strategic leadership by identifying opportunities related to the data science lifecycle and developing solutions. Help inform the design of and roadmap for our enterprise ML platform and cloud infrastructure. Lead development of domain specific analytics frameworks and data science packages. Use statistics and machine learning to analyze petabytes of health care data. Embrace a product and systems mindset when developing solutions at scale. Work cross-functionally with data scientists, data engineers, and senior leadership. Use data to inform strategic and design decision making in addition to measuring performance and outcomes to demonstrate efficacy. Provide mentoring to junior data scientists. Champion a data-driven culture.Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 120,000Maximum: 265,000Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.Required Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on experience in applied machine learning and software engineering (e.g., full-stack data scientist or ML engineer). 5+ years of programming experience with Python, SQL, and Git. 3+ years of experience developing and deploying predictive models or ML systems in a cloud environment (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure). 3+ years of experience acting as a technical lead on projects. Demonstrated experience developing or supporting the development of data science products. Demonstrated track record of technical innovation and implementing novel machine learning techniques. Experience building machine learning pipelines with Airflow, Kubeflow, Metaflow, or Prefect. Thorough understanding of machine learning engineering principles such as distributed/parallel computing paradigms and advanced data structures. Familiarity with modern libraries such as Dask, Ray, Arrow, and Rapids. Thorough understanding of the modern data stack (MDS), its individual components, and alternative solutions' strengths and weaknesses. Substantive experience working with tera-scale data in a distributed computing environment. Experience developing Python packages as an OSS developer/contributor. Accustomed to working within an agile team construct. Strong communication, organizational, management, and leadership skills.EducationBachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline.
